    Wardrobe Cleanout

My shirts are getting out of hand, so thought I'd have a quick rummage and throw a load out....after about 30 mins of serious deliberation, I managed to pick out a grand total of 1 shirt which I wouldn't feel too bad about chucking (despite that fact that it's actually quite a nice quicksilver number).

This leaves me with 66 shirts.

Are there any groups out there to help me in my hour of need? I just can't do it alone....

Does anyone else share my afflication? If it helps with a diagnosis, I also own at least 10 pairs of shoes, seven suits, and a fair collection of belts....

They say if you haven't worn something for 12 months ,throw it away ..on the other hand they say keep something for 20 years and it will come back into fashion

Get your mother round, if you can. They seem to be fantastic at clearing out old clothes and all that.

It's only weird if you don't wear them. I have 2 drawers full of t-shirts, but I always keep wearing (and washing!) the same 6 or 7. Took me a couple of clearouts before I worked my way up to throwing some of the rest out. I just need to find a few more I like wearing as opposed to keeping, before my current faves wear away..

I seem to share your affliction with T-shirts. Haven't counted them recently, but I went through a phase of buying at least 2 or 3 every week. They're great things! I feel guilty about chucking clothes that still fit / have a remote chance of being worn, out. Keep them ftw!

I went through a clearup of clothes earlier in the year - basically anything I wore 0 times since having it went on eBay - took an age to list everything (with pics etc.) but I got £200+

I stil have a lot of things Ive worn like once or twice, and I probably will never wear ever again, but have the same problem of getting rid of them.

I just threw a load of shirts i have never worn onto ebay. Got rid of 12 leaving me with 40ish. I decided on which ones to keep by counting the number of times I'd worn it and then if it was over 3 i asked the girlfriend if it was any good and the ones she didn't like i got rid of too.

Bloody hell, the forums are full of a bunch of metro-sexuals!

Listen, you're not a real bloke unless you have just three pairs of shoes (a pair of trainers, some old shoes/trainers for DIY and a pair of smart shoes that you never wear cos they hurt your feet)

You have 10 t-shirts MAX and three of those must be old tour shirts, preferably with paint spatters and rips/tears.

You should have three pairs of jeans. One old pair for painting, one pair you wear and one other pair that you bought before trying on, are too small but you just can't be bothered to take back and it's a crime to throw away something you've never worn, isn't it?

You have 6 shirts, if you wear a whistle to work each day, if not, you have 2 shirts. One is a plain white shirt with slightly worn collar that sees the light of day only for weddings and funerals (the occasion being recognised by your choice of either a black tie or that flowery one your mum bought). The other is a short sleeved 'fashion' shirt that looks awful on you and you only have it because your other half said it looked nice.

You have one suit, which is AT LEAST five years old and is now slightly too small. Not too small to make you buy a new suit but small enough to look odd.

You have one pair of smart trousers, one of those ones with the clip and a button to do them up at the top... but the button has long since gone.

You have one belt, in brown leather, which looks fine with the jeans but the huge Jack Daniels buckle looks slightly out of place with the suit but hides the missing button nicely on the smart trousers.

You have LOADS of pair of sock and boxers/y-fronts/briefs... ALL of which are on their way to being cloth versions of a colander.

You have three jumpers. One was bought for you and you wear only when you have to go somewhere a bit smarter and it's cold. You have one that you really like but then accidentally painted the lounge door in, so now it's a 'DIY jumper' and it resides with the jumper you SHOULD'VE been wearing when you painted the lounge door.

And THAT, gentlemen, is a proper man's wardrobe!

Oh I forgot. Even though they might be branded with anything from Babycham to Sanitary Towels, ALL your t-shirts are promotional freebies... after all, it's a crime to throw away anything not worn, eh?

I don't really know where to start.

I am not a metro sexual but lazyness dictates that I need more clothes than that. Otherwise I would be forever doing washing. 3 Decent shirts (a must for clubbing), 5 pairs of jeans (works out at about 2 weeks wear if you take account of club nights and drunken antics) 15 tshirts, 2 jumpers & a ski jacket.

    Perfect.

Seeing as you've appointed yourself the forums own style and image consultant I have a question for you......

....Now I consider myself a real bloke, but unfortunatly I own half a dozen more tour tshirts and some combat trousers, should I start drinking cosmopolitans now or am I in the clear as far as male fashion faux pa's go?

Right, now to e-mail Trinny and Susannah and see what they think about Import Tuner Challenge for the X-box 360
