use google, but spell it entitlements
You are entitled to 20 minutes' break every six hours. It's up to them if they want to pay you or not.
From memory - isn't it three breaks total. Two of minimum duration of 15 minutes and one of at least 30 minutes? Well, it was something like that the last time I looked which was when I was doing my first degree and working at Kwik Save in the 80s.
Legally I think it is at the employer’s discretion but they have to give you a break every four hours which would be your dinner unpaid :(
From what I remember from my last shift job its 15min off for every 4 hours worked, so 8 hours means at least one 30min break. Generally you don\'t get paid for breaks
you sir, are correct:

If you work up to 6 hours, then you are not entitled to a break. Longer than 6 hours, and you are allowed a 20min unpaid break at somepoint during the shift. You are not required to be paid, nor entitled to take it as 2x10min breaks.
Many businesses will pay you on a 10min break.
Every single employer i have worked for has given 10min in the morning and 10min in the afternoon paid and .5 unpiad dinner.
Anything under that in my opinion is a bit mean and could lead to unhappy workers and i always say you can never do enough for a good boss!
2x 10 mins break in an 8 hour day?
To hell with that, I take as long as I want... 1 1/2 hours for a 9 hour day ( including my lunch ) today....
That said, some times I'll get a mere 20 mins in a 11 hour session if it's really busy - so swings and round abouts...
iirc there are also health and safety rules,
the advice is as present if your using a computer, one 5 minuite break every hour. However that 5 minuite break could be spent doing any non-computer work rather than a break.
just thought i'd throw that in the mix.
I have often wondered about hour long dinner breaks. Say you work from
7 to 4 and have 1 hour 30 minutes worth of breaks in the day. what I find
very unfair is the fact that you have to work those hours. They are basically
forcing you to waste one hour of your day and you are not getting paid for it.
This assumes you are paid by the hour and not by salary.
I work 8 hours. Get 2 fifteen minute breaks paid and one half hour unpaid break.
I work 9-5 and get one and a half hours worth of paid break. So really I do six and a half hour day but get paid for 8 hours worth ;)
7hr 24mins day, which doesn't include a minimum of 30mins lunch break (but is unpaid hence why not included).
We are told to take a 10min break from the computer every hour, however we still have to be working (yes, they like tidy desks ;) )
Consider yourselves lucky if you actually get to take a break at all during the day :)
 Would I be correct in guessing that you are a Temporary Contractor?
If so you are paid for what you work, you are entitled to breaks but not paid. Just as you are not entitled to paid holiday even though some agencies offer paid holiday as an incentive you are not entitled to it!
There are health and safety regulation evolved when working at in front of a monitor though.
So check your contract! I guess at the end of the day it depends on what you signed.:mexican:
Unless you are allergic to butter!
But I think you are on the right lines!
butter is not a necessity
