What's going on at ocuk?

I'm a member or at least i was at the OcUK forums. I just posted in the Gaming section under "Competitors, clarification" Just asking "why they have the forums if they make no contribution to OcUK" as they have stated they make nothing from the forums.

And now my 1500 post account with access to members market with healthy feedback as been deleted without explanation.

Don't get me wrong i wanted to start using this forum more because of the draconian attitude they have at OcUK but i didn't want to lose my account :(

Anyone else from OcUK in here?

btw, can we avoid any ocuk bashing, as it keeps the place cleaner :D

Its because they have started selling console equipment at over inflated prices. Xbox 360 packs for £311.

Not a member at OcUK, but have used them as a retailer.

The Forums are an extension of the business, rather than run for the debate/discussion it would generate, and are therefore fairly harshly moderated. It seems another way to promote the Business, without any possible bad publicity.

Jus' my view anyhow...

i think dave has hit the nail on the head really cheap advertising space and they probadly dont want ppl putting out bad messages to potential customers

Ok looks like i'm just suspended, But still i only asked a question and never mentioned a competitor. It always puzzles me why OcUK have so many great members when they treat them so badly.

They have always been the same at Overclockers. You dare not mention any other retailer or say things they don't want you to speak about. Lots of restrictions on thier forums. They are run by Big headed people who are power crazy. Hexus is by far the best forum on the net.

I do agree with that though, with one exception, which David knows about. I must admit I wouldn't be on my way to 3k posts if it wasn't a nice friendly forum :)

I'm a member of ocuk, with about 30 posts in the last 2 years! This is one of a few forums i visit, also visit whatmobile, fiatforum and talkaudio

I've just checked out OcUK's new XBOX 360 Range LMAO!!!

This must surely be the most expensive place to buy 360 gear from, what are they thinking of!

I heard that they were alledgedly in financial hardship and and on the verge of liquidation and thats why they are penny pinching. I cant say that i will miss them when they are gone.

I can, sometimes dodgy service, but they offered some good components for good prices - and less competition is always bad for the consumer.

But they arent competition to any of the suppliers I use :)

Price-wise, customer service-wise, attitude-wise, rma procedure-wise, getting through on the phone-wise, answering emails-wise, high delivery chareges-wise....in any way shape or form, they dont compare to even the worst of the suppliers that I use, and a few of those are Scan, Specialtech. Over-clock.co.uk....this isnt bashing overclockers, they do that to themselves because they are inferior in all of the areas listed above, in my opinion and that makes them the worst retailer in the UK bar none :) (also in my opinion).

guys - best thing to do, forget about it and move on.....don't try to preach about hexus to other forums - thats the reason its on the swear list, just forget about it and people will find places that suit their needs.

I have had a nightmare with OCUK

1 His X1900XT IceQ faulty RMAd recived a second Faulty card RMAd, got my chash back and went to Scan

I then bought a Linksys router that arrived faulty (wireless drops off after 2 seconds and needs a toatl box reset to bring it back again)

I have given up with them now, never again will I even look at the OCUK web site.

I was banned from OCUK forums for posting about the 'Sales of Goods Act'.

Luckily, I was already a member of the top quality Hexus forums :D

I got banned years ago for the same kinda thing... I was spreading the word years ago! I've always hated them.

Just checked on OcUk and i'm still suspended, been looking through at other members who have been suspended or banned and to my surprise long time member and ex MOD Davey_Pitch as been permabanned.

I really don't think that many member know about this place although i did see someone try and sneak it in as "there are other forums such as HS" but i think it got deleted.

ie, complaints, other etailers, pricing - that sort of stuff..

They ban for stupid reasons.

I was banned for changing my email address to my own personal email server - then my emails were rejected by their mail server. asked them to change it to my company email address - rejected also! gave up about 3 years ago! ;) never looked back

I was banned because of something like that. I made an inquiry about my order that i had sent back to them because it packed in a few weeks after me having it. literally within a minute of me posting my thread it was deleted and I was permanently banned. I had no correspondence from them what so ever.

Any firm that can't take criticisms or bad press is not a firm thats worth dealing with in my opinion. Any company that wants to genuinely better it's self would use the bad press/criticisms as a way of distinguishing their problems and to then sort them out and thus make the company a better one and not just a customer money sucking leech.

People should just forget about them, they'll get whats coming to them one day, its just a matter of time.

I think this thread has served its purpose :)
