If you have Office XP textbooks, will lots of the content in the book be relevent for Office 2003 in terms learning how to use the program?

Yes of course. My kind employer recently sent me on an Access 97 course, even though we use Office 2003, because that was the last time the training materials had been updated![]()
lol!
Your telling me hardly not much has happened since 1997...? apart from workgroup stuff. Why do people upgrade..
the fundamentals of Access 97 (and other relational databases) hasn't changes over the years and i'm sure there are a lot of Forms and Reports features that are identical, but there is a whole heap that has changed over the years in Access, especially when you get into heavy VBA code hiding behind your interface.
Well that's another question entirely, and lots has changed from 97 - 2003, but certainly an Office XP book will tell you 95%+ of everything you could want to know about Office 2003. I mean all other things being equal if you have neither buy the 2003 one, but if you have XP ones lying around don't feel you need the new one unless you need to know the really bleeding edge advanced stuff. If you don't already know what has changed from XP to 2003, you won't miss it![]()
the help included is fantastic - plus the online search is better than ever
... i.e. you shouldn't need paper manuals - and maybe it's worth getting the office 2003 for dummies from your local library - will give you all you need to know.
unfortunately - my laptop has office 2003 and my workstation has office 2000 which makes life interesting!
just be glad you don't have to use Scrotus Notes(tm)!
ok, one of the differences worth knowing is how Powerpoint has changed. Although the basics of XP & 2003 are fundamentally the same, there are a few options in 2003 which are certainly improvements, including shortcuts, packing for CD, auto-layouts, etc
Word & Excel? Hardly any differences worth mentioning.
Access? as others have said, fundamentals are the same.
i use both on a regular basis and as far as i can tell there are few differences apart from a slightly improved layout on Ofiice 2003. But overall if you can use one, you can use the over with hardly any trouble.
its offically RTM, so developers like me have been making sure all our code runs smooooothlay on it.
what is it you want to know about office pp05?
whilst there hasn't been a major shakeup since '97 (and '07 is a major shakeup too) things like XP added certain types of important support for COM automation etc.
There is so much stuff on the web too help you learn, but if possible try and get your employer to send you on some certification courses that they pay for![]()
