    Ebuyer & Citylink

Having placed an order with Ebuyer using Super Saver Delivery on Monday and having been told all week that I would get delivery next Monday - they then try and deliver it today!

Having booked myself a day off on Monday (needed it anyway) to recieve my parcel I got home last night to an email saying they were delivering today instead.

Managed to get home early from work (12:00) to find that Citylink had been at 11:25 and left a card in my letterbox saying parcel returned to depot, no attempt made to leave with either neighbour.

To rub salt into the wounds ebuyer have taken payment twice from my bank account!!!!

Most people don't mind early delivery
You can go to the depot after 4.30ish and collect it - or they will redilver on Monday anyway.....

The double payment is for the extra good delivery they gave you

    Eye popping good!

I bought something from quietpc i think it was, which was delivered by CityLink too i believe.

That was scheduled for a certain day, but then it actually arrived a day earlier so I missed it, but they left no card to say they had been. Had to go to the depot to pick it up, which was annoying!

    whats the problem ??

They delivered it a day early, great ! you missed it, unlucky so it will be re-delivered on Monday which you have the day booked off for and it is your expected delivery date ?

they tried to do you a favour.....they failed so you get it on time as planned.
    It is Inevitable.....

But will it be redelivered, that's the point. When mine didn't come, they made no attempt to redeliver on the requested date, and when I rang they said I would have to go and collect it.

I dont mind having to go to depots to pick up stuff as long as its in the same
town. The only one where I am is royal mail. Its a pity more shops dont give
    you delivery options.

Problem is when I found out they where delivering today, I cancelled my day off - so I could have it Christmas with the family.

So I now won't be home Monday and don't fancy a 40 mile round trip into the middle of Birmingham tonight.

Took the easy way out, cancelled my order!

City Link are a bunch of lying barstools.

Anyone ever had them claim they tried to deliver, yet for some reason you got no card? 4 times (yes 4) this has happened to me. It's because they don't even bother delivering some times. I caught them red handed and the driver even admitted that they take on too many jobs then tell the retailer that no one was at the address.

I know this because i was at home waiting for something once, yet at about 4pm i got an email from the retailer say that they had an email from CL saying they tried to delivery but i was not in (the even gave a time of being at my address). Then i went out and by pure chance i bumped into the driver at a retail park. I asked him if he had my parcel, which he then gave to me, and said that he had not been to my address. The poor chap was obviously very stressed out and he continued to tell me that they was absolutely no way in hell he could delivery everything, so they basically tell porkies rather than admit it. I complained to the retailer, who was a diamond geezer, and he basically said that he knows this goes on and they are terrible, yet he has no other option as they are so cheap.

Oh, and once about 6 years ago they left £400 worth of PC parts outside my door - in the rain AND on a busy street.

I could tell other stories, such as the time they left an item at a house way down the other end of the street and messed up the paper work so that i had to go knocking on doors to find it, but i'm bored now.

And most people don't mind a day early delivery? What? I does not matter if it's a day late or a day early, if people work Monday 9-5 it's just as bad if you don't get any warning.

But all said and done, I still buy from companies that use them if the price is very good, but it's a lottery. Scan's customer service is so good, you know it will get sorted - eventually. I don't even bother wasting a day off and wait to be able to drive to the local depot sometimes.

We've always had excellent service from CityLink, whenever we order from Scan it's always the same friendly driver and he always comes at the same time everytime he delivers, was worried that i'd miss him today with being at work but he delivered Jon's parcel to my Father In Laws house

It's Amtrak we've had hassles with!

I guess you could say there is always someone with a bad experience of every company, mistakes happen. But i have had too many problems with CL to be able to put it down to that.

That's what happened to me once! I waited in all day with no music or anything on and they said it had been delivered but nobody was home. If they had come they must have knocked very lightly as I would easily have been able to hear. They left no card either!

But that's the only 2 times (out of many) I've had a problem with them, every other time has been fine.

I have to agree with autopilot - I've been put off buying from ebuyer personally about 98% solely based on my experiences with Citylink.

I know they dont bother trying to deliver to our block of flats, the neighbours have mentioned this, and Ive seen Citylink vans sometimes go up and down our street with someone running in and out of flats with a pile of cards

And after seeing how they operate in the depots, I don't know how it is for other areas, but I wouldn't trust a box of polystyrene balls with those eejits. Marked fragile packages being thrown, kicked, dropped, or heavier pacage dropped on top . . . a free-for-all pickup service (although this may have changed since last time I was in), where you go in with your card then they ask you to go and find it - I'm sure someone got a few good deals out of that one, and as for me, I spent 45 mins looking for something that wasn't even there - it was still in the back of the van that "went out" a few days earlier.

Still, after all that, I dont think it beats my mate's experience who ordered about £500 to build a new computer only to get told several times they "don't know where it is." Almost 2 weeks after (ebuyer weren't answering him during this time either) the original delivery date, we were just chilling in his flat and get a knock on the door. When opened, this Citylink guy handed over a MINI-SKIP with all the bits in torn boxes and bags and said "Sign here."

... he still orders from them!

If every one cancelled their orders that were not delivered on time, (which you are within your rights to do under the distance selling act), the retailer would have to consider the cost of returns vs the cost of using another carrier. Because PC components retailers are not depend on the time scale for the customer to get the goods, so long as the customer get the good eventually they get there money, they could ignore complaints about poor delivery as it does not directly affect revenue unless:
    a) Orders with a late delivery are cancelled – simple to measure.
    b) Negative publicity about delivery service impacts on orders been placed – difficult to measure.
It depends on how urgently you need the goods.

It's a lot more important for subscription service providers (such as broadband or mobile phone) to get the goods to the customer, as no customer will pay for a service they cannot use. I don’t know but do any of the mobile phone companies use City Link?

Might be interesting to do a few polls on the carriers not sure how you could do it if someone has place say 30 orders and had issue with a few of them.

BTW I have ordered from Scan and had no problem with the service City Link provided, also had no problem with Amtrak, DHL, Interlink and RMSD.

All the times I've used City Link the driver has been perfectly friendly, but if you want a package delivering properly you still can't beet UPS/Deutsche Post - they really are better than the rest. Amtrak have been pretty good around here aswell actually....
