I've been trying for about half an hour to an hour now, I can get onto Gmail fine but sending mail.. it just keeps refusing. I can't even safe an email as draft.

Nah it was probably just your browser throwing a wobbly; my Firefox very occasionally goes loopy and won't let me click anything, etc, solved with a restart
