    SAGE Payroll help required.

Hi all, need a bit of help regarding SAGE Payroll. I'm trying to transfer my bosses records from an old computer to the new one, and it's proving harder than it should be!

Firstly, I transferred the database over, and that was fine, it loaded that up and came up with all the messages about payment slips needing done - good. But none of the employees were listed. So I tried exporting the employee records from the old one, there's two things on the export (can't remember what they're called, but in data export> top one), and that was OK, but when I import them onto the new computer it says "Importing" and SAGE immediately closes. I think this is the two files I need, as I can open them in Excell and they have all the details, but for some reason it doesn't work.

Am I doing something stupid here? Is there an easier way to do it?

Going to be trying again tonight, but will need something different to try, so any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Ross.

Doesn't Sage have a support hotline? They'd probably be a better help than a generic forum.

Asked my missus for you, here's her response:

I suggest using the manual… .from memory it was excellent. And the help option on the package is the entire manual so the search button is more useful that flicking through pages.

I have had to do this before, take a backup of the old one. Save it onto a cd or whatever and then do a restore on the new version. Should work fine.

Nick, I tried the manual and it just said to do what I did.

99Flake, I asked my dad (who also uses SAGE for his own business) and he said the same, so I'l give that a go tonight!

Thanks guys I'l let you know what happens.

I think that is the best way. I used to do payroll for my dad (he is an accountant) and that was the way that I was taught to do it.
