"cube" is rather fun
Not seen cube3 yet... any good?
(cube 3 - aka Cube Zero)
oooOOOOooo i didn't know there was more than one... worth investigation
Event Horizon?
Japanese - Ringu, Ju-On, The Eye
Japanese - Audition
kiri kiri kiri....
Aliens. Not exactly a horror film, but a brilliant watch and 100 times better than any film mentioned so far.
"Cube" looks interesting , similar thing to "Saw" from the look of it !
actually yes, that was my first reaction too
I'd second Audition.....though I'd say I was more "petrified" of Ringu . . . Audition's a better film though.
Evil Dead 1 & 2
American Werewolf in Paris
The Howling
Dog Soldiers
Friday 13th (1st one)
Texas Chansaw Massacre (Remake is better I personally think)
Hills have Eyes (Remake again for same reason)
The Thing (John Carpenter)
The Fog (John Carpenter)
In the Mouth of Madness (John Carpenter)
Have all those and quite a few more in my DVD collection !
Not forgetting "The Thing" was a remake :)
The man knows!!!
I do like Carpenters stuff in general, very good when it comes to horror. I found his version of The Thing is the definative version. For sheer scares, gore and compelling story with a really evil catch at the end !
Bit with the blood makes me jump to this day, it's the only moment in any horror film that gets me every time even though I have seen it a fair few times. The Thing was also the very first horror film I ever seen.
Yup a tale of two sisters(korean) is good.
Ferral - there's been talk of a sequel - or perhaps prequel - for some time... personally I think the open ending worked fine without tainting it... but.. ?
I agree, I heard about the sequel you mentioned a few years back but nothing has come to light with it. Personally I think a sequel would definately ruin the ending, Carpenter does like to leave you wondering at the end of a lot of his horror films and this one is definately one of the best. However, a prequel may actually work quite well.
Only time will tell though to see if it actually happens.
My favourites are,
saw1
saw2
mind hunters
house on wax(remake version)
and yes I also liked kiri kiri kiri kiri..argh my feet are itchy:D
Ferral, seen most on your list , thanks anyway. Cant say i'm to keen on japanese/chinese/korean films with subtitles, although Audition has a good write up ,with the worst torture scene on film ????er remind me not to get the popcorn out for that one !!!
I got some film called Dead Birds cheap from play , scared the ... out of me
kickstart ... the Far East films are some of the creepiest and well produced horror films of the last 20 years. You can get dubbed versions if you're really that bothered about the subtitles, but the original versions are the best....there's not a huge amount of dialogue anyway. The Ring (Ringu) doesn't have a whole lot of action, but what it does have is really pretty creepy. Ju-on has a similar kind of bad guy/gal, and The Eye has the scariest elevator scene ever. Worth watching, honest.
ibm..ok will give them a go !! but tend to find subtitles a distraction from whats going on in the film !
The grudge scared me :D
The eye wasnt very scary imo.
Childs play films are pretty good :D
Ah Childs play ! We talking Chuckie and the lovely Tiffany
I watched Nightwatch on Channel 4 the other night. First horror movie I have really enjoyed in over 2 years.
