Inspired by the 'What famous people have you met' thread...
So who has had their '15 minute of fame' then?
Myself - I was played by an actor on crime watch, as i was the last person to see someone before they were murdered. I was also interviewed on Australian TV news for a piece of eating habits. It was very random!

i think my mum still has a tape of me on local TV for Haloween. I was in primary 1, so that would be about...20 years ago! :shocked2:
I've been name checked a couple of times on 6Music too. Tom Robinson even read out an email verbatim at the start of the year. Yes i did record the play it again stream for posterity :D
I've had two letters published in Bike, and one in the Independent, when I was a teenager. Erm- that's it.
I still plan to write a Eurovision winning song at some point- I have a load of holiday coming up this month, better get down to it....
I'm in a Slayer documentary somewhere, Blue Meridians tour dvd along with a few others but thats my only speaking role ;). I was on C4's Download coverage extremely briefly in a shot which also involved slight lesbianism, been name checked on the radio a few times aswell.

Appeared on TV in Sweden for a program on Scottish Dancing in Hong Kong (my parents dragged me along while I was there visiting them, and yes, the female presenter was very hot).
Was in the Middlesbrough local newspaper 2 days ago if that counts? Was a quick street interview asking "Would you ever fly in a plane which was piloted by a computer, and had no human pilot"
On the day that the first Gulf War started in January 1991 the Independant newspaper front page was a picture of me writing home to my wife from Bahrain.
I have also made an album (I think it sold about 5 copies) - it was when I was in the school choir - not telling you when and where in case some of you still hold it against me :)
I produced the "Jake Thackray Project" double CD. 74 tracks lifted off vinyl, cleaned up in Cool Edit Pro, and released as limited edition of 300 copies. Got a mention on Mike Harding show as producer of said CDs. Got my name and that of my studios mentioned in the sleeve notes in a further JT CD EMI/HMV release. All happened in 2002/03. Jake sadly died Xmas Eve 2002, knowing he had a huge active fan base.
I was an extra in two films. The first was called The Love Child and the second was Fever Pitch. I also had my photo used in a local news paper for taking part in a swimming gala.
My brother has out done me though. He was an extra in The Love Child and Fever Pitch. He also had a picture with Charles Kennedy that was in a national news paper afaik. Finally, he was in a ikea advert that was shown in Sweden.
Forgot to mention that i won Letter Of The Month in both PC format and PC Gamer a few years back.
I appeared on Newsround when Sutton Utd beat Coventry in the FA cup back in the late 80's. At the age of 5 I drew an advert for smarties that appeared in Norway. Oh the heady heights.
The back of my head was on TV on Thursday! I was in the audience of the Late Edition. Free tickets here (God Bless the BBC)
Jake Thackray is a legend, I first heard "on again on again" on Mike Harding and never looked back. I'll definately keep my eyes open for a copy of the Jake Thackray project.Quote:

Appeared in a few magazines being interviewed about my gaming clan and interviewed on a local radio station about when I went for a job as the mascot for Walsall FC (Swifty the Swift). Basically, the secretary of Walsall football club said I'd got the job as mascot after two interviews and then all of a sudden the season started and the bird came running out of the tunnel to my utter dismay. I went to see him and he said he'd forgotten to tell me that he'd changed his mind. I was fuming so I wrote an article about the whole experience which appeared in the local paper and lead to the interview.
Also played guitar on internet radio and interviewed rock group ASH a couple of years ago.

It's *mega* rare, and only three have appeared on eBay - mine, the webmaster at jakethackray.com's and one other (all legit), plus one other not legit, which we got removed sharpish ! PM me for more pointers though...Quote:

I was nearly an extra in a Simon Pegg movie.... I was offered it, but they said they wouldn't pay me, so I turned it down haha ;)
I had the lead roles in the films 'Master and Commander' and 'Gladiator'.

Song of priase was in primary school, camera crew turned up and the teachers said.. ignoure them and do what you normally do... ofc that ment everyone run at the cameras screaming stuff.
Blue peter was last year of the same primary school, me and 3 mates sorted a sale to raise money and got lots of badges and some TV coverage.
News was few years ago when Shrewsbury had the biggest flood ever, I was on the news for 10min cycling through waist deep water trying to get into town to get to my local
The something else was primary school days when I was in a choir (before balls dropped) and sang at wembley
I won a "Mystery Voice" competition on Manx Radio.... and got called a sad bugger by the presenter for knowing the answer (Leonard Nimoy) :(
I was on the power-hour many years ago, late night metal show, they were filming at a dingy metal club in Cheshire so we made sure that we were there for that. Released a CD - Quietus, Mental Decay (ok a bit cheesy but this was in the early 90s!). Death metal at its greatest ;) Also supported many bands, including Anathema, Bolt Thrower, Broken Bones, Pitch Shifter and I think the last gig I did with that band was supporting Martin Walkyer (spelling maybe off, he was the singer of Sabbat back in the day). Oh, also spent a few hours with the former bass player (big bloke, frizzy hair) from Napalm Death in the Boater in Bath during my PhD years there. So, I had a couple of metal tinged 15 mins perhaps.
My band supported the kooks, woohoo. I also know and have played with Jamie T.

I had a GL fix for the original GTA published in PC Format, didn't know anything about it until I found a quote from PCF of myself on a random GTA fans website... that was weird!
