    Standing Orders

Does anyone know how long these take to clear, the money left someones account today but do I need to wait the standard three days for it to hit my account?

Rubbish, I thought the whole point of standing orders were that money would be taken and sent without any messing around.

don't be silly. Why would the bank give you, the average person, a service that *actually* benefitted you more than them?

In this day and age, there is no reason why these transactions couldn't be done real time (we are long past the days of being constrained by batch processing of bank details), but then they would loose out on that 3 days of free interest.

EDIT: if you want the money *now* there is a service that does it, but i think it has a £20 admin fee and is mainly used for sending money to a solicitor for buying/securing property.
