    I'm convinced.

Not just from watching that remarkably persuasive and well-researched presentation but also to paraphrase one of the letters to the editor in Viz of some years ago: What's all this talk about does God exist? Of course he exists. He talks to me and tells me to kill women. I've killed seven now and each time he rewards me with coloured lights and music in my head.

Sometimes it's organ music (a bit like the Magic Roundabout theme) whilst other times it's tunes by Primus.. I think it depends which direction the wind is blowing.

OK Mr Smart-Alec liberal intellectual, if evolution is the answer to everything, how do you explain the fact that I don't believe in it?

This thread is really rather funny. Made my day in fact I still can't understand how people can disbelieve evolution in favour of a book. How on earth can science be chucked away in favour of a book ... There is nothing supporting what it says, it just makes lots of claims. And sorry if I have offended some people rounding it up like that, but I am entitled to my opinion.

Well on a more serious note I would say no-one knows for sure about the existence of God and never believe anyone who says they do (either way.)

@ fuddam, I've duly edited my post.

For all interested in this kind of thing, last time something like this thread came up someone helpfully pointed out the bit in the bible that states the value of pi is 3.000000000.... (Kings 7:23).

Now Kings 7:23 has become understandably famous, such that if you google 'Kings 7:23' you get lots of sites that list and satirize the various contradictions and absurdities in the bible. I've just noticed that this one:

    http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.co.../accounts.html

....links to real, genuine Christian sites where real genuine Christians - aww, bless - respond to the contradictions in turn to paper over the cracks. How priceless are those replies?

That's right, it can only be said that there almost certainly is no god, the idea is unfalsifiable like Bertrand Russell's orbital teapot or the FSM. Everyone should make their own assessment of the probabilities, based on their own observations and thought exercises. Or they could just believe what their parents told them as kids

If there was a god then surely everyone would believe in that one god and we would not have numerous religions believing in different deities. Neither would there be 3 religions that believe in similar principles but disagree on certain aspects and accuracies of prophets and important figures

^Well interestingly the Hindus believe their gods/goddesses are aspects of one divinity (I believe).

I think it's quite possible that there is a God (whether it/he/she is like biblical or other notions seems quite unlikely to me) however I also think it's equally possible that there isn't.

I'm an agnostic with a slight bias towards science (that's to say, if you make a claim make sure you have proof - which is what a of Bhuddists will tell you too!) but I say everyone should form their own opinions and beliefs and not force them on others...
