Fair Play to Royal Mail

I know they have cut offs for 'Guaranteed Delivery' for Christmas, so they can do just that - guarantee the delivery.

But this year I have been pretty amazed at how quickly some things have been delivered after posting, I bought some things from online stores after Wednesday (one on Thursday) and the majority of things have arrived already!

Earlier on in the week I sent a card to a friend (on the last day of post for 1st class) and she had time to reply and I got that card on Thursday.

The speed has been faster than past years as far as I can remember, it's just a shame that I have to walk even further to get to a Post Office now

Any other people with good/bad experiences?

Not with Royal Mail, but City Link were working heavy over time on thursday night. According to the tracker, he van was loaded at about half six at night, the guy was at my door at 19:15. wasn't expecting that.

I posted an item out for smeone on eBay on Tuesday recorded delivery and they still havn't received it. They wanted it for Christmas also. Negative feedback on that one no doubt.

Granted I have received a few things through the post the past few days pretty promptly but this other thing seems to have vanished off the face of the earth at the min.

I was posted an empty envelope, which had been opened.

I phoned customer services and guess what they said... "are you sure it was not empty when it was posted, contact the company that sent it they may refund" . Did not care that they may have a theif somewhere in the process


I should say though my regular postie is really good, it just seems when someone is doing his round things go wrong

I ordered some books for my Dad from Amazon and I was pretty convinced that they wouldn't arrive for Christmas bu they were posted on Thursday and I received them on Friday! Not bad for the free delivery option

I ordered some dvd's from hmv and amazon on sunday. And not all have arrived, still another 3 to come, which i doubt i will be seeing them this year.

Over here they employ temps for the Christmas season just to get ALL the mail delivered. I'm sure they do the same in England

Another thumbs up from me, there has been a definite improvement in performance this year. Whether it is a national thing or not I don't know, but they are even doing a normal post delivery in my area tomorrow!

Ordered a bluetooth GPS receiver wednesday night, and got it friday morning. Impressed with both the online store I bought it from and Royal Mail

The Royal Mail gets a lot of bad press but I think they do a great job. Not as good as it used to be but, relative to postal services in other parts of the world, it ranks amongst the best.

I ordered stuff on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and it's been a much better service from RM. The couriers seem to have been delivering much more early aswell. Hope they're rewarded for it.

Except for them loosing 4 of my packages somehow in the last month or so, they have been really good the last couple of weeks

Well tbh I would expect them to be better this year with all the extra money they have made from jacking up the prices (with the new pricing system, and closing a few hundred post officies).

They have managed to cope better this year though it;s true, but I wish posties would stop leaving parcels outside my house rather than leaving a card..this is england..if its there more than 5 mins it will be nicked for sure
