New Fantastic 4 trailer: Actually could be good?

    First of all the disclaimers:

Am a big comic book fan, particularly marvel, and love Spiderman, the first 2 x-men films amongst others.
I thought Daredevil (movie) actually had some watchable / enjoyable parts, as did Hulk.
I thought Fantastic 4 sucked big time.

But Oh My God would i be crazy to get my hopes up?
I read about this on Aintitcool, and got the link from Digg.

I was quite surprised a sequel got the green light considering how bad the first film was, so it must've made enough money to warrant one.

I thought the trailer looked pretty cool (I didn't know the surfer could phase through matter, so it must be apart of his ability to restructure molecules) but I wouldn't get my hopes up about the film though .

Aside from the original The Punisher film, all of the Marvel comic conversions that I've seen have been absolute RUBBISH.

By the way, are they completely excluding Galactus? Something smells.

    -edit

Oh okay, IMDB mentions Galactus in the plot outline.

The original Punisher film with Dolph Lundgren was awful but the newer one was much better but not great either.

    What about Blade, Daredevil Director's Cut, Spider-man, X-Men 1 & 2 weren't they good adaptations?

That looks great!! But I'm not sure about the Surfer getting new powers to morph through buildings though, he didn't have that in the comics I read of him (and I was a die hard Surfer fan).

Those are all good films if you like re-written storylines with vastly important parts completely missed out in favour of what might look "cooler" in CGI. Aside from Daredevil (seriously?), the above films are all fine and dandy to those that don't care about the original storyline.

Admittedly, the original Punisher was also rewritten - and in terms of quality, wasn't a good film. However, unlike any other Marvel film adaptation, it actually captured the mood of the comic book as it should have been represented.

Sorry, perhaps I'm just a comicbook nazi

Re: Proplus - Snap. I've never seen the Surfer flying through things like that before, either.

I love my comicbooks too but I can appreciate for films that liberties are going to be taken.

I agree some of the latest adaptations lack the noir and grittiness of the comic books especially with Punisher and Daredevil.

The director's cut of Daredevil is a lot better than the theatrical one and I'd recommend it if you can tolerate Ben Affleck hehe.

Maybe with the new Ghost Rider film it'll capture the mood of the comic book and still be a great film.
