    Electric shavers

I got given one for christmas so now learning how to use it properly. I tryed to use it this morning, and thought it worked quite well - except not nearly as close as wet shaving (where I usally dont stop untill I cant feel/see any stubble left).

6 Hours later and my face feels like I hadent shaved atall today, and maybe +1 days of stubble, + a bit sore.

    Any tips?

it usually takes about 3 weeks to adjust to an electric razor, so give it some time... it wont be as close as a wet shave but, should still be pretty good.

There are also some oils that you can get that act like shaving gel for electric razors (like this http://www.faceitguys.com/pages/shav...mentholoil.htm)

btw, which one did you get, Philips?

I got my first lekky shaver for xmas aswell, braun 360 complete. My skin feels a lot smoother although the shave closeness will never match that of my gilette fusion. I agree with the above comment that your face needs about 3 weeks to adjust to the shaver properly. (or so I read from the Braun Manual )

3 weeks, exactly what the phillips book said

I dont belive its anything to do with my face though, if it does take 3 weeks its probably the cutters and guards adjusting to each other (which the book also says takes 3 weeks, if they get mixed up).

    its a phillips HQ6695

I got one too. Chuffed really cause I asked for it and it was the last present I opened.

I got the Philips Cool Skin one. Used it for the first time yesterday and was pretty impressed. Nice close shave, the gel pump did it's job nicely, and no irritation.

Plus the fact it took about a tenth of the time of a wet shave. I'm sold.

They do irritate your face at first, it takes time to get used to them. I used one when I was a teenager, but nowadays I don't really have any need to be clean shaven so I just shave about once a week.

I also got a Philips coolskin jobby - pretty nice and it'll keep the missus (who got it for me) sweet if I shave every day rather than once a week like I used to...

I bought one of those top of the range Philips ones a couple of years ago, self cleaning and irregular shaped holes in the foil and all that.

It's basically rubbish and a waste of money, it's OK on my cheeks and jaw but I have never managed to get anything approaching an acceptable shave on my throat with it so I am left with still having to wet shave my throat. Obviously WTF is the point of that, so I hardly use it.

Are you asian by any chance? Not meant to offend in the slightest, it's just that usually it's people with darker skin that get really thick beards quickly.

I agree entirely - I got myself a decent one (after getting irritated with my last one) and it's fine, apart from my neck, which I still have to use a shaver for. It's a bit rubbish, but the good thing about the electric is for just a rough shave it's nice and quick.
