How to clean TFT monitors ?

Hello guys. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section I thought it didn't really belong in the hardware section of the forum.

Anyway, I'm wondering if any one can recommend which is the best way to clean a TFT monitor? Does it have to be some sort of special cloth ? I haven't tried a normal cloth yet as I don't want to damage my TFT.

    Thanks in advance.

    - Denic.

    Happy new year.

I'll use babywipes or a clean soft cloth with plain water works well

Use a slightly dampened microfibre cloth if possible. I bought a 'Spontex' window cleaning cloth from Sainsbury's that is simply amazing. You don't have to use any chemicals, just splahs a few drops of water onto the cloth and it will clean any window or screen.

I use Klear Screen as its used on space shuttles and the International Space Station so it must be good..

I got given it, actually, seems to do the trick but I've never used anything else as it seems to last forever

Don't ask me what the difference is between the Dell version, how/why the hell do they make a different screen cleaner for another manufacturer? I haven't read the product info page for the product.. and am at work atm busy doing end of month/year stuff. Busy enough to visit here though!

If you're after the cloths but a big order is too much for you then have a look in Currys or Dixons, they do packs of about 50 or so.

If you use anything else then just make sure it doesn't contain alcohol or you could damage the surface.

Simplest way to clean a TFT is to not get it dirty. Don't sneeze cough or point at it and it should never need a drastic clean, simple . If its your own PC then having the will to do this should be easy, though if its a family computer its probably not possible.

I've never needed to give my screen a full on clean. Sometimes small dot like marks land from somewhere (its inevitable) so I get lint free/soft cloth hold it under the tap turn the tap on carefully until a smiley faced size drop of water lands on it. This is enough moisture to remove any marks that I have ever had and I don't press on the screen hardly at all.

    Hello again guys.

I've just used some pampers babywipes on my TFT... As far as I can see they are alcohol free.

The thing is, now I have a very big black smudge/streak mark on my TFT... I don't know how to get it off....

Can any one recommend something please?

    Thanks.

What I need are tips on getting rid of cornflies stuck behind the screen.

I have 3 still there from summer. It's quite frustrating.

    Hello.

I've just bought some proper TFT wipes... At first it left my TFT streaky but when I went over the marks a few times they dissapeared.

Now I have a nice clean TFT !

    Thanks.
