    Broadband in UK

Hello, I am new to UK and i need broadband, actually i'dprefer cable but NTL is not available in my area.
I was thinking about Plusnet (no contract) and Virgin (bundle). what is the company that offers the best reliabilty between the two especially during pick hours?

Is satellite brodband another option in UK?

As an ex-Plusnet customer I can heartily recommend just about anyone else...

Might be worth a look-see at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ (formerly adslguide)

Bethere seems to be a fast option but is not available.

What do you think about Virgin? If You had to choose between Virgin and Plusnet which one would you choose giving priority to the most reliable service?

In all honesty I'd broaden your search a little. Plusnet were horrendous towards the end of my period with them and I've heard a few horror stories about Virgin. What are you looking for from an ISP? There are a lot of different offers so that's something else you need to think about.

What kind of stories with Virgin?
My top priority is stabilty and reliability, a service that works when it should even if the speed is a little lower.

I have used Freedom2Surf http://www.f2s.net for years without any problems and only a couple of outages lasting more than 1 hour.

However they have recently been taken over by pipex. This doesn't seem to have effected anything service wise yet.

I spoke with a Freedom2surf sales rep and he was very confident about the service, he also told me that usually don't have any complains from customers! I think i'll go for it!
    Thank you Capt.

newnet are reasonably cheap for a decent amount of monthly data transfer. Not a very well known one but I have seen a couple of recommendation on hexus.

Virgin pretty much are NTL these days. That said they come out very well in the surveys, and personally they've been great for me (been with them in two different places so far, great each time).

he's not going to say "we're rubbish, I can't get off the phone due to the ammount of complaints I get"

two people have posted you an independant broandband link, a third person has said he found it helpful too, as well as people providing options, and one word on an ISP from one guy and "you think you'll go for it" ??

I'm with Plusnet, they used to be good but recently they have started putting restrictions on download speed. But they are also a pain in the arse if you want to get them to do something, I've been having speed troubles for over a month now and they only started to do something yesterday about it.

I know a few people who use Demon, which they seem to think is pretty good. Only £20 a month too.
