    Question Mobilez innit!

Right! You bunch of lovely lovely people!

Does any of you very bright individuals know how to unlock my Nokia 8310? I've just upgraded to the SonyEricsson T610 and am going to give my good lady my old 8310, but she's not on Orange and it is locked on Orange!

    Cheers peeps!

On the same note, any idea how to unlock the S/E T610 without having to buy the cable, then pay some place to connect to their server, get the code, then enter it?

Go with Carphone warehouse to do it or contact Orange customer services and request Unlatching Key or Subsidy Pin (Different networks call them different things)

Don't go with just anyone on this as if its done and the IMEI number is rewritten its illegal

It's ok mate! I managed to find some software to do it. I spoke to my dad about this (He works for Orange) and he reckons that it is illegal to do this, but I read the "Mobile Telephones (Re-programming) Act 2002" and it only states that changing the IMEI of the handset is illegal as this is the number used to block a lost/(more importantly) stolen phone. The only thing is, in theory it is against the terms and conditions of the contract I'm in, but I believe this doesn't count any more, as I'm out of my 12 month contract and besides, I've upgraded to a Sony-Ericsson T610 this week!

Thanks for your help guys! I lub you all!

You don't have to send it away. They basically do what I did, but charge for it. They take your IMEI (which they know already), put it into their software and give you a code to input. For this privelege they charge you about 20 notes.

The software I downloaded took the IMEI and network (In my case, Orange) and the guide talks you through what to do. It's just a case of taking your sim out switching the phone on and putting the calculated code in to your handset. A message comes up and (HOPEFULLY!) hey presto! unlocked phone!

Sorry, I didn't mean orange phones, I mean the Sony/Ericcson T610. I know unlocking most nokias is easy, but I cant see a simple way unless that method works with this phone. If it does, can you give me some instructions on doing it?

    Cheers,
    NS

You need a code for the SE T610, I'm not sure where to get the code from, but to input it type <**< and choose network. enter the code here. If you find anywhere to get the code from, please let me know.

Apparently the code is unique to the phone, which kinda makes that a problem....

So is it not easy/possible to unlock a Sony Ericsson phone? My old T68 is locked to Orange and I was wondering if I could unlock it without having to and pay at one of these market stalls/websites?

Also as a side note, are o2 phones locked? Not interested in unlocking my current phone (T610) as I still have a while on my contract but I am just wondering for the future.

    Thanks, Anders.
