Replicas?

Now I know some people mya not agree with this but what are everyones thoughts on replica watches? (kinnda inspired but the other watch thread )

I have been told about the site below for the very best replicas and they look amazing. My friend has one of the Tag replicas and I honestly would never know the difference! Very weighty, built very well and looks stunning.

I know it may not sit well with every one but for a fraction of the price Im thinking about giving it a go!

What does every one else think?

Surely the point of having a designer watch is so that you can be smug in enjoying your collection of well made watches with a history?

So if you had a replica you could be smug to yourself and enjoying your collection how? The only point I can see would be to try and use it to fool other people into thinking you've got more money to throw around

Well maybe you can enlighten us - what are your reasons for wanting one? What will you get out of it?

Well the main reason is that I love the designs that some of these companies come up with. And I am yet to find a cheaper manufactuer that can make them look as good. Its not 100% about the name as most people would never see my watch anyway, but more the look and feel without the price tag. (and I have seen them and yes they do look and feel VERY close to the real thing)

Im not saying I am, I was more interested in other peoples veiws on replicas/fakes.

Well that's a valid reason for sure. Personally I don't find the designs of top brand watches all that special and the fact it was a copy would put me off.

Personally if I was going for a designer watch I'd probably look for a less well-known name - optimum or something.

edit: I didn't know replica's were illegal - *wonders why they're legal in some genres and not others*. Anyway if they're illegal then definitely I would never get one.
