    Can you Tell peoples race by the way they type

    I've been reading a few threads, and sometimes you get a mental picture of the person typing (I don't mean looks).

    I've read a few threads of late where I have mental pictures of people, that because of how they type lead me to believe they are black, and one of a chineese slant.

    I wonder, do you think you could tell someones race, or perhaps even more by how they type.

    Could we do a little experiment Say 5 people post a thread about their favourite PC game and why they like it (so its an random but descriptive topic)

    and a few of us put a guess on their ethnic background.

    I'd be interested (I may pm them) to know if the threads I was reading where an accurate picture of the writers.

    i've been reading stephen kings gunslinger series, and the black woman refers to white people as honky's.

    Good idea Ikonia

    the interesting thing for me is someone who I'm certain is black/white in my head due to how they type may be the exact opposite.

    Others you could be spot on with, I'm just curious to how many white people type with a black style - or if I am dead on for who I think it black/white by how they type.

    I have plenty of articles up on HEXUS.net. I'll let everyone guess my ethnicity.

    There's a big difference between ethnicity and culture, and I think it's cultural influences that affect writing style more than anything.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I’m gna disagree with this statement

    Half of my job has just been moved over to India and if it was not for the fact that I talk to these people on the phone I would not even know they were Indian let alone that they lived there all their life and have never set foot in an English speaking country

    Their emails are absolutely spot on probably better then my English

    Just in case ure wondering i am a white caucasian male

    If the person speaks a language which is linguistically very different to English I think you should be able to.
    Especially if you have some knowledge of their language.

    I reckon I could pick up on if someone is japanese by the use of their a's an's and their the's.

    Other Europeans speaking English would be harder I think.
    North Americans would be easier to spot.

    Completely off topic, but could you pass the details of the company you're using to NTL and BT so they can use them for their technical support, I've told "Steve" that I had a courgette growing out of my cable modem.
    "Sir if you reboot that will sort the problem sir"

    Anyway, I gotta jets to yard ya gets me guy, safe.
