    It looks like:

It also has an IP11 postcode:
    Bureau for External Affairs
    SEALAND 1001
    Sealand Post Bag
    FELIXSTOWE IP11 9SZ
    UNITED KINGDOM

The average house price is £150,000 so it might not sell in the local estate agents when the time comes to move

Although the whole issue is still a legal grey area in the UK as to whether it's independant or not. The rest of the world don't consider it independant. For £65 million, I think I'd want something I was a bit more sure I was legally entitled to other than something the Royal Navy could one day decide to invade.

Bit odd That they had a fire, especially when you consider that they sold themselves as a data backup facility.

That would a waste of money for such a dump and what is not even a real country. Have disposed of and recycled.

I like the idea of him seeing them of with warning shots, I assume he realises he won by PR, Royal Navy would take some rap if they shot at him. Probably should have waited until he finished and then arrested him!

In the Times article, apparently it was "invaded" by German and Dutch businessmen who took someone prisoner, the country's "noblemen" retaliated by holding a couple of people hostage in return.. (this was in the 70's)

Ironic that we had to go and sort them out when the fire occurred

Don't think ironic is the right word but it sort of works

Well, I think most nations have decided he's a complete loon and therefore don't recognise it at all, but I think the UK tolerate it - doesn't recognise it as such, but I think have given up trying to do anything.

To be fair, Ipswich could do with some light-hearted news at the moment. Sorry...

I have a vague recollection that when Napster got in trouble they looked into Sealand to set up for exactly this reason.

Judging by todays news about the Royal Navy cutbacks it dosn't seem like you'd have much to fear unless they start to deploy their Rapid Offensive Pedlos. Possibily a large enough flotilla of rubber ducks could cause them some problems too.

The issue hasn't been tested in international courts yet. If it was a small island in international waters that had been claimed, then it would be a legitamate country.
The problem is that it is an artificial contruct, so may or may not be legit as a country.
