    Parcel help please!

    Hi,

I finally found a Nintendo Wii online, and ordered it pretty quick! However, in my haste, forgot to change the delivery address..

See, I'm at uni, and my card is registered back home. So the billing address is my place back home where currently, no-one lives.

So parcelforce tried to deliver today, obviously failed, and it's held at a local post office. Parcelforce won't re-deliver to a new address because they no longer are holding the parcel, and royal mail won't do it because of "security".

No-one is there to get it for me, and I would need to sign the slip, anyway, which is through the locked door back home.

After 3 weeks, the post office will return the item, to Gameplay. I can't get home until 11th Feb.

    What do I do?!

can anyone get the card for you? if they can they could post it to you to sign (or they could just forge it?), you could post it back then they can collect it for you?

you need to contact the shipping person - ask them to contact the post office to authorise re-addressed-delivery and then pay the difference assuming there is any .
    It is Inevitable.....

The shipper can't do anything to the parcel without having it back if its RoyalMail/Parcelforce.

You'll need to take proofs of ID to pick it up, so noone else would be able to go and get it anyway.

Dunno what to suggest on this one... Royal mail are really unflexible when it comes to things like this, but they have to be to protect themselves from fraud and the claims for losses that would follow.

    Not really...

What's going to happen after it gets sent back to Gameplay?

You say you 'can't' get back home until 11th february is this absolute or just in theory terms, as in you dont want to go back / have no need.

How far is your UNI from home is it not in reasonable transport distance so that in your free time u can go home, nab the card and then have a way of sorting this mess out?

Otherwise, where is everybody else? Do you live with anyone, or are they all away too / on holidayb ? Doesnt any other family member have the keys for your place?

Id give anything for a wii right about now, and I really feel for you in this unfortunate perdicament, hope u get it sorted mate

I wish it was that simple.

I can get back to where I live (ish) on the train.

But once I get there, my car will be at the house and I'll be several miles away. I was relying on a lift from parents - they aren't around until 4 weeks ish. I don't live close to a train station.

I wouldn't be able to get to the post office without a £20 taxi each way, add this to a £40 train ticket....

Can't you just ring Gameplay, explain the situation and tell them when they recieve it back from RM, to post it to the new address?

have you tried ringing the post office and explaining your away and cant collect until the 11th, please dont send it back etc ?

i just googled my local post office and got a hit with phone number on the 1st link, worth a try.
*edit, looking at the calender, its due to be sent back on the thursday, you get back that weekend, so they only have to hold it till 9am on the monday, im sure you wont want to be without any longer i cant see a working day making them say no.

you dont need the card they put through the door.

Goto the delivery office holding the parcel, and you sign for it as usuall after they scan the barcode. You will need to show ID which also shows the address, like driving licence or something..

    OK, cheers.

I'll ring around tommorow, and I'm sure I can sort something out.

I just feel guilty that there's a Wii sitting there doing nothing for weeks when so many people really want one!

    Sorry...
