in 50 years time? Not at all unfeasible.

I was referring to the way it seems to be in our faces all the time. If global warming is in peoples faces all the time it will have the opposite affect of what scientists are trying to do to. People just won't want to know about it. The importance and threat will always be there though. Trying to get your average human to understand these things is very difficult. They can only see the here and now and can't comprehend how scientists can predict the climate in 50 years time.

    You're quite right.

Seriously though, it might just be an upsurge in how media worthy everybody find it, but doesn't it seem that it's been getting sooooo much worth in the last 12-24 months. Think about how rapidly the melting of the ice caps has been accelerating, and how vastly reduced the snow fall in the alps has been, and how severe the crazy storms in the US have been....

It's all a bit Day After Tomorrow if you ask me....

had to change my underwear twice last week I blame it on global warming and corporate America... not forgetting the black Helicopters.

Still have to agree weather acting funny lately crazy storms in the US, floods in Portugal and Spain, high temperatures in northern Europe... though still think the wrong type of attention is given.

Look on the bright side, if something severely astronomic happened to us, then it would probably be over before we had time to notice (albeit we'd be dead, but that's minor getaround).

The day after tommorow was a bit overinflated though, it's going to be a gradual process i believe.. not suddenly *click* everything in one go. Still a scary thought though..

I think this thread gets the prize for the most hilarious global warming thread I've seen for a while.

I wouldnt believe that global warming is our fault at all.

Source? Latest IPCC report, due in about a week (i.e the god of all sources on this, all petty sniping aside) is rumoured to give you a one in ten chance at best of being right.

The media stuff is silly though, I agree, but then it's tricky to find a subject in which the media is not inherently sensationalist.

Does it really matter what is causing the planet to warm? the fact is its happening and we need to do do something about it.
People saying oh its not us thats causing it shouldnt be burying there heads in the sand to be honest.
The planets getting warmer fact, If we need to cut down on the fossel fuels to help then thats what we need to do.
Saying its not our fault and ignoring the problem will not help, it wont magicly go away.
Quite frankly I feel that anyone who thinks global warming is not a problem is retarded.

Is that the same IPCC where every single one of their past models have been inaccurate, by as much as 300% out on their predictions?
Of course they are telling us they are right now so we should believe them
Global warming may be happening, and we should prepare for it, but targetting all of the wrong type of pollution rather than concentrating on the things that have been proven to affect the environment negatively is just reacting to silly sensationalism.

Personally I'd welcome a bit of a rise in sea levels... means I won't have to drive so far to the beach for a start...

Would that not mean I'd use more power, meaning I'd be adding to global warming not cooling the planet by leaving the door open?

I find that standing in the street, angrily shaking my fists at the sky, screaming "STOP WARMING DAMN YOU, STOP IT NOW!!" works.

Well, that's the impression I get when I go up to people and say "You DO agree with me that my shouting at the clouds is helping climate change, don't you? DON'T YOU?". They tend to agree with me then walk away quickly.
