    Bloomin' Heeley

Me and my sister were discussing Sheffield slang and we got to bloomin' heeley and wanted to know if it is just a Sheff thing, or if everyone says it. Since you're from all around the country, thought I'd ask here. So, does anyone else use it, not from Sheff?

Also, what about jennel (sp?). Like a narrow pathway or something.

ginnel, jennel or whatever, is that even English????

Well London is a big place, the slang varies depending on where you are in London... I'd like to think that i am in a slang free part of London, lol... (although I probably use it without realising)

I've never heard 'bloomin' healey' before but I think it's related to the following area of Sheffield.

"Ginnel" in Leeds, but I've definitely heard "Jennel" elsewhere.

Definitely a Northern thing though, and "Snicket" - a similar term..!

Please do not tarnish us true northerners with your dodgy slang.

And I thought the Geordie slang was strong...

Born in Leeds, moved to Sheffield when I was 4. (17 years ago)

I'd comment that, a 'snicket' - was always referred to as a snicket by us kids. But my parents used to call it the ginnel.

As for Bloomin' Heeley, never heard of it.
