    PlusNet Broadband Firewall

    Any PlusNet users here.

    I know PlusNEt haven't been popular in recent months but I have no complaints here. They've recently launched "PlusNet Broadband Firewall" and I was wondering what your thoughts about it were?

    Is it any good?
    Is it even worth turning it on?

    Curently I've got a Linksys Router with a built in Firewall and also use the built in Windows Firewall so my security isn't fantastic.

    I'd go along with that. On the positive side, it's nice to see someone doing something for those who are a little, er, less than aware of home security.
    I'm looking at leaving plus, I don't download terabytes a week over P2P or Usenet, I'm only really gaming and stuff. They were pretty good value for the £15 per month, but I'm looking around anyway. If they can sort their port blocking and capacity issues, I might be persuaded to stay.

    A router with built in SPI firewall in combination with the windows firewall is MORE than enough if you have a bit of a brain and don't start adding trojans etc to your allow list

    I wouldn't bother with the plusnet broadband firewall..would be going very OTT and is likely to do nothing but slow your connection even further.

    I'm one of the unlucky fools stuck with plusnet at the moment, and if I could move I would - I had a better connection with NTL than these jokers! (and thats saying something)..the internet is unusable between 4pm and midnight, although outside of that time period its great. Plusnet also have some really nasty policies on traffic filtering and shaping, would be a much better idea to just ban Bit Torrent..I bet that (in combination with the BT exchange issues) would fix everything for us. Still BT have just bought plusnet out, so maybe things will change for the better...

    What? That's fine unless you're paranoid, or spend your days trawling sinister websites.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
