I'm not sure how many here are 'into' watches but I picked up my first Speedy Pro last Tuesday and according to this thread @ TimeZone, I've been diagnosed with SPV stage one.

SPV: Speedy Pro Virus!

The CDC has further determined that a person may suffer from various stages of the disease as determined by the number of lesions present. One lesion is catagorized as stage one SPV and increases accordingly through stage three. Any WIS with more than three lesions is diagnosed with stage four SPV. At this point the disease is terminal and without hope of recovery.

I managed to source an original Omega croc strap with the deployant buckle, and it does really bring the 'Speedy' out.

Actually, my collection is puny compared to many aficionados, i.e. samkan's collection, or even Gino's

Seems like there aren't many people here that enjoy or appreciate this kind of thing, o' well - was interested to see if there *were* anyone else here! There's more to collecting watches than just 'spending' money though

Or you can get one of those special drawers made which have a rocking mechanism built in to keep all those perpetual motion watches from running down...

I've been on a couple of watch forums, and in Mike's defence, he's normal compared to some of those guys...

There's something to be said for the passion that people feel for certain things, sufficient to drive them towards that next acquisition, and the contentment that they derive from possessing such objects. Whether it's cars, art, watches, small fully articulated models , or anything.

For me, it's just stuff. My wife does the collecting, and she's filled her house with objects. Me? I've got three small shoe boxes of stuff that I could never throw away for sentimental reasons. The rest is just junk. What's the point of owning all that stuff?

wot do u do with those watches? I mean are u so rich that u can buy as many watches as u want and still not notice a hole in ur wallet? Cause to me it looks like a waste of money unless u have unlimited income. I got my £1000 tag on my 21st and i will probably still have it on my 41st. u dont need more than 1 watch,,, lol

Depends upon the circles you move in. Take my father in law (please ) , unless he's wearing a custom Patek Philippe or equivilant, he'd be considered underdressed, and risk loosing face in front of colleagues. I myself have two watches, an everyday rugged and reliable, and a dress watch. And for certain situations the latter is required, as my regular watch would look out of place against one of my suits...
