Never said it was, just pointing out the big difference between "Striking" and boxing, and it's a considerable one.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think boxing is the superior art, due to lack of legs, quite the opposite, I love Thai boxers knees, and elbow strikes, Kick boxers Axe kicks, the posturing and weight shifting of Karate, but when it comes to striking with the hands, boxing is superior, and by a decent way.

    Wrestling and grappling yes.

BJJ is an actual martial art, and a complex one. I never stated I could master that in a year, and even wrestling I said one or two.

And its also something I expanded on in an earlier post. Also your post

Bruce Lee himself wrote in his diarys (whilst paralysed) of the strength and superior technique of Western boxing compared to other arts, and especially slated that of Thai boxers. The only more impressive "strike" is a kickboxers spinning back punch, but so wild....
Would suggest you consider boxing to be superior.

Either way, something that Guru Dan Inosanto said at the last seminar I attended is quite apt for this thread. It boiled down to. "Do as many arts under as many instructors as you can, no one set of techniques will fit everyone, find what works for you. Have 20 or 100 techniques that you are competent with, but master a handful and make them your own."

I said that one could master Wrestling/Grappling in a year (or two) I never stated that one could master BBJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) in one year or two.

That was in the context of STRIKING, not in general.

So to put an out of context quote back in context and true to what lee wrote:

of the strength and superior PUNCHING technique of Western boxing compared to other arts,

If you think you can master wrestling or grappling in a year you are sadly mistaken.

BJJ is an umbrella term for all sorts of techniques and holds etc. Hence "mixed martial arts"

Quite how thats out of context seeing as I quoted your entire post......? I also note that the word punching never appeared in your original post.

You make an ambiguous post, disagree with my interpretation and then claim I took it out of context. hmmm.

My views on the term "striking" are quite clear.

Also what Bruce Lee wrote is perfectly accurate....for Bruce Lee, what worked for him may not work for others.

If you'd like to quote, my quote, and then call it ambiguous, without quoting your OWN quote, which was IN my quote, then that's very, very silly: My quote was in context, because I'd quoted YOU in it and it read - and still reads:

We were blatently talking about striking. Job done.

And yes, I believe I can master Wrestling/grappling in a year (or two). Live with it.

    Do I need the Moustache?

    There's mastering, and there's MASTERING.

Think, turning into a boxing pro, (one of my mates at the boxing Gym, Luke just has) and then there's being World Champion.

    Grow up.

Nope, sorry you managed to lose me there as well.

Perhaps you feel differently about the word striking to me.

Putting that aside and going back to the original issue. With the penetration that UFC has as well as K1 and Pride and with the success of "The ultimate fighter" for fans identifying with the fighters I can't see how Chuck Norris has much more to offer.

And from your wiki link. "The system developed from a modified version of pre-World War II Judo including some techniques from Japanese Jujutsu and with a focus on ne-waza (ground technique)"

And as everyone knows a good martial art evolves to accept new techniques.

I'm with everybody else - Bazzlad, you could not be more wrong.

Groundwork is astonishingly technical, but if you've never seen it done properly you wouldn't know and up to that point would understandably be dazzled by flying roundhouse kicks of death. HI-YAAAAAAAA!!!!!
