Right this seemed the only place to really post this so here we go:
Can anyone recommend me a DVB TV card that isn't made by Hauppauge? I am fed up with their out of date, rubbish and quite frankly hard to use software that breaks more often than I can count (on multiple different card types).

Nebula DigiTV. Costs more than most, but should be more reliable too.

why not vary the software? nobody's tying you down & making you use wintv2000
That is an interesting point, not having used TV cards that often (only the ones at work) I didn't think of that as an option. Do you have any recommendations?
www.gbpvr.com is quite good and has full support for the Hauppauge cards.
mediaportal if you want a whole media centre solution, works well with Hauppauge if thats what you have already
Vista Premium/Ultimate also works fine with some of the hauppauge cards without the additional software being installed as the media centre side of things does everything.
a lot of the basic PCI DVB-T cards are besed on the same chip sets and are essentially identical. It is possible to use the drivers and software for other cards on the one you have. I've never done it but have heard of others doing it.
MediaPortal is great. Not always the most stable however. Worth a try though, it is free
Cheers guys, I have used media portal before and as you say it was very good for free but not the most stable. I have downloaded GB PVR, going to give it whirl can't be any worse.
Nebula cards and their associated software are very good indeed. There is the added bonus of recieving the BBC hd trial if you live in london.

really? cool. i have a DigiTV, haven't used it for ages though. Their software was always pretty good, but their recent releases look great. I would be tempted to try the BDA version of their software.
Jus tgo to their website and it tells you about buying the software etc. I think it is just a matter of downloading the software and buying a bda licence from the settings.

Have you seen the Nebula Media Solutions stuff? i don't think there are prices, but i like the look of their media servers and clients. Could be very useful when they get complete media center capability in DigiTV
Is there any hope of snagging that BBC HD trial signal from outside London? Or is it strictly on one one transmitter such as Crystal Palace or something?
