Connect 3D Radeon 9600 XT 128mb

Basicaly I am not gonna be able to order a new gfx card till friday because thats when I get paid and even then I suspect I it wont arrive till after xmas. my local shop has the above card in for £120, I was just wondering if if was likely to be much different in terms of performance to the hercules model. any1 have this card or know where I can find a review? (google was not my friend today...)

i have connect 3D 9600XT runs nicely and my GPU core will hit 570mhz and ram 695, up from 500/600. Its a nice cheap card.

well, its friday at last, not sure I will be able to work a full day today.... just know I will end up buggering off so I can rip this GF2 out and wang that baby in...

well, got it at 2pm today... played first game properly 10:20pm...

after a few problems relating to having nvidia drivers in there first (ended up installing XP on another partition) and the new zonealarm eating cpu time (replaced with sygate, not bad) I finally have it all working.

scored 9800 in 3d mark SE at default settings and with no tweaking, NFSUG looks great, just waiting for 3dmark03 to d/l and il try that. but first impressions of the card actually working are good tho, seems a lot better than my Ti 4200.

What drivers are you using with the card. Head over to ATI and get Catalyst build 3.10 drivers (download link on the bottom left side of their homepage).

Theres loads of fixes in this driver set, it looks like the performance you are getting is a bit low, visuals with 3.10 also seem alot more vivid and colorful and Call Of Duty (OpenGL - Not ATI's strong point in the past) is running like a dream in high resolution with everything maxxed out.

I have the Connect3D Radeon 9600 Pro card and hit 10500 on 3DMark 2001 SE running default bench and no AA or AF enabled.

have installed the 3.10`s.

i must say I havent got my cpu clocked atm and I havent enabled the overdrive feature yet. I will spend tomorrow tweaking it a bit and see what I get.

I expect a fair bit more from it, my Ti scores went from 8000ish to just over 10000 with a bit of tweaking and overclocking.

just enebled overdrive on my connect3d card and seems to make no difference but im sure it must do... havent benched it yet to find out though

The problem is a Radeon 9600 XT isnt much faster than a Nvidia ti4200.

What it has going for it is it's a DX9 video card so when games come out that support it the ti4200 will look very slow compared to it also you can turn Anistrophic filtering on for an increase in image quality for little or no performance penalty.

And the Anti-aliasing is nearly free at 2XAA but 4X or higher it will make it slower than a ti4200 but much better looking.

Well thats my opinion anyway.

But for £120 it is a bargain.

well, my 4200ti performed great in DX8 games and although this XT isnt that much better in DX8 it was pretty good to start with anyway. I have ran some DX 9 demos and 3dmark03 (3500 marks) and all I have to say is... wow!
