    8800GTS Buying Advice

    I currently have a X1800XTX256 running a Dell 2405PW
Would a 8800GTS be a SIGNIFICANTLY better bet at 1920x1200, or should I really hold on till the GTX gets more affordable.

It's the argument: longer I hold on to the 1800 the less it's worth v the longer I hold on the cheaper the new card gets........

I want to be able to play Stalker etc at native res

    What do you think?

Hold off for R600 or Rev 2 of the DX10 cards.

That is unless your card is struggling with games atm, in which case buy the best you can afford?

Get a GTX, i upgraded from a X1800 and the difference is massive at 1600x1200, for you it will be even bigger at that res.

R600 is not set till May/June, and Stalker is out in a week or to.

If you get an Evga GTX you can use the step up program is Nvidia release a 8900 like everyone seems to think.

I would do as Smokey says with the EVGA step up program but with the GTS if you can. That way you can try the cheaper alternative and then if you dont like it upgrade to the GTX.
