    Graphics Card Advise

Hi all, I'm looking to change my current card:

    Gefore 6800 PCI-E

    to something that can:

Dual DVI Out OR DVI & HDMI Out

Play the occasional game, so when i do i need the card to support a res of 1680x1050 (TFT res)

Can anyone recommend a decent mid range card (Gefore 7600GT?) or a high end last gen card (ATi 850XT?) Thanks

Radeon X1950 Pro. Cheap, faster than your current card, and the 256bit memory interface will ensure decent hires performance.

Yes, and there are quite many options with aftermarket coolers which would be quiet, aswell. I'd recommend looking for one of those.

Or the Sapphire's X1950PRO Ultimate, saves you the fiddling with the cooler, and comes cheaper than an X1950PRO and a VF900 separately, I think

As I understood it, comes with a VF900, only it's not installed? Well, that's a very good deal. And you do get some cooler-installing experience

eBay, generic card, but I'm not into overclocking so not fussed, seems a good upgrade from my Geforce 6800, might get £35-40 for that as has a Zalmon on.

    Hi Rizel23!

I may get one of these myself from the same buyer. What's the card like (ie. is it good quality) ?

What kind of benchmarks do you get in 3DMark 03, 05 and 06 ?

Unfortunately, the HDMI output is only available for lowend and midend cards like under 7600GT. Otherwise I would buy one too. Maybe HDCP/DVI is a good subsitution for your TFT. By the way, I have a couple of X1950GT(Pro) 1.1ns 512mb. If you would like to have a look, email me at hellojerry@hotmail.com please
Hope you could give me some opinion!

Built quality is very good, heavy card due to Zalmon fitted, so is quite, dual DVI out works a dream, not done any tests, i have an:

    Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8ghz
    1gb PC-4200 RAM (533)
    Gefore 7600GT

so what sort of bench marks should i be looking for and what software to test?

    Benchies:

    http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark03/
    http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark05/
    http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark06/

The free versions should allow you to test overall performance of the card.
