Strongly disagreed. 7300GT is far more better than 7100. You might not see much differences on latest games. But for some aging 3D games which are very likely be very popular for this kind of users, it's a different story.

The price difference is tiny as well. Why go for a crappy one for just saving a can of beer?

As good as beer is that is very true! Think I might try and get a card from ebay. I just know that I would like to end up with an 8800.

So you don't think sli is a good call? What if I ended up with 2 8800s in there? What motherboard would you recomend if I don't get an sli board. Are they that much cheaper?

They are not much cheaper than the 650 chipset but SLI really is a waste of time.

there is the list of scans 956 and 975 chipsets. Most people seem to recomend towards the asus P5B or the gigabyte GA range. The advantage these have over SLI is the upgradability. On sli you usually end up with 1 maybe 2 slots for expansion free after you put something like an 8800 in

I reckon your better off with a single 8800GTX than 2 GTS' or wait around for the motherb*tch 8900GTX

OR if you really are determined to go dual gfx

You could go for a crossfire MOBO such as

get a cheapo graphics card now and the dual it up with ATI. You will need some SERIOUS wattage for a set up like that though

You can pick up a 7600 GS for about £40 or 7600 GT with Zalman cooler for about £50-£60 on ebay.

Hi my friend, going for 2 8800s are very costy. If you could afford 2 of them, I strongly recommend you go for a best mobo as you could.

First of all, what platform are you on? If it's a S775, It must be the ASUS board with 680SLI chip on. 650 would be a subsitution saving you about 120 quits

Frankly, SLI only makes sense for gaming if you have bags of money and so can afford both cards right now. For most of us, if you have to wait 6 months to save up for the second card then you are faced with the next generation being released by then. It is then generally better economics to sell your existing card and just buy a new card of the latest spec.

I only bought an SLI motherboard because at the time it was very mainstream and therefore had good regular BIOS updates, something like three times the updates of the almost identical non SLI version that ASUS also did.
