Graphics Problem
Ive eventually found out what the course was of my computer crashing when in games! When i set the AGP Bus to 8x it crashes, but it runs fine at 4x! Anyone heard of this problem? My system spec is in signature, im wondering if its a problem with my Shuttle not supplying the AGP with enough power? Should i try upping the AGP voltage to 1.6 rather than 1.5?

Yep i've heard of it the radeon 9500-9800 series has problems with some motherboards, it not really a major problem just run it at AGP 4X as there isnt really any difference the AGP speed is just a gimmick.
Also Fastwrites cause radeons to crash and are better turned off as well.
Make sure you have the latest 3.10 catalyst drivers as they fix compatibility with 9600 pro's and XT with some games i.e. Call of duty.

Ok mate cheers, i just read over at another forum about the AGP 8x compatability too, not too happy about that tbh! Gonna return my Shuttle and get a Abit NF7-S 2.0, lets hope that one works properly aye :)

Your returning your shuttle because your card wont run at 8x AGP (where there is very little difference) ?
Isn't that a bit extreme, or have you changed your mind about it now ?
-
Well, i payed for 8x AGP, Same goes for the card, but ive heard that nVidia's next platform drivers should fix the problem... if that dosent fix it then im selling them on :)

You do know that 4x and 8x have like 2fps in difference? Returning it for that really is quite stupid to be honest. Lots of people can't run their motherboards at 8x with their Radeons, me included, and I don't see any point returning my motherboard for 1 is any fps difference at all....

I started a thread a few days ago on exactly the same problem with a Radeon 9600 Pro.
I think the manufacturers should start putting a molex on the boards that are 9500 and above like they do with the 9700 and above at the min. Maximum my motherboard will allow for the AGP slot is 1.7 Volts, 8x I believe requires a minimum of 1.8 volts.
At the min my system is running really nicely at 4x AGP and I hit 10,840 on 3DMark 2001 SE running default bench. Thats more than enough to run any of the latest games in 1024x768 all details maxxed out. When I run the games I put AA and AF at 2 and it runs smooth as silk.

Well, i was going to keep it, but my favorate game (PlanetSide, BR18, CR3 :p) will not work with my Radeon, so its back to the shop it goes!

I've heard so many bad things about ATi cards ... when I tested the 9600XT I didn't really get any problems but have read so many ATi incompatibility stories - kinda glad I've stuck with NVIDIA!
Returning over 8x AGP is a little pointless but not being able to run certain games I would as well!
