    8800GTS to HDTV - help!

My PC and HDTV are about 10ft apart and I wanted to know how feasible it would be to buy a cable so I could stream content onto my TV and sell my Mac Mini which I'm currently using as a media centre.

Anyone know of any shops that sell this kind of cables? I've had a good look online but can't find anything.

Its just a basic DVI to HDMI cable. I bought my 3m one off ebay for £8. works a treat. 5m cables should cost around £12

Just search for DVI to HDMI cable.

It won't be streaming on to the TV, the HDTV will work as a 2nd monitor.

But I guess I could install on the many free media centre bits of software out there to handle everything.

Nice, I may have just made myself £250. Anyone wanna buy a Mac?

hmm just actually had a look at my HDTV.

I've only got one HDMI port which my Sky HD box is using. The only free cable port which the Mac Mini is currently using is the PC D-sub.

Is there a wire that can attach from my gfx card to the PC D-sub connection?

hmm maybe I'll need one of these http://www.lindy.com/uk/productfolde...1223/index.php VGA to DVI Analogue Adapter Cable - DVI-I Female (Analogue) to VGA Male, 0.2m and then connect a nice long DVI to DVI cable.

You should've got a DVI to VGA connector with the graphics card, if not then you'll need an adapter and just a longer than normal vga cable (or just use your old cable and an extension cable. Your graphics card really should've come with the adapter though.

The other option would be to use component video, but vga would be better.

So it did but I already ordered one

I've also ordered a 5m DVI - DVI cable. I'll let you know how it all goes.

Right I got my things but I need some help.

I've got my 5m DVI cable plugged into my second gfx card port and connected to a GA to DVI Analogue Adapter Cable which is plugged into my LCD.

The screen on my LCD is not showing my second desktop at all. Am I correct in thinking I should have actually got a DVI to VGA connector and a long VGA cable?
