Any info on HP w20 LCD?

My old 19" CRT has given up the ghost. Decided its about time to get myself an LCD and join the 21st century.

Can get this for just over £146 using discount code and Quidco cashback, can't find any reviews though.

If anybody could give some info or thoughts, would be much appreciated. Cheers

I have two of them and for the money (I bought them at £189.99 each end of last year) they're very good and would be a nice bargain at £146.

It's a 5ms panel and as far as I am aware it uses the newer type of TN panels providing good viewing angles - looks good to me anyway - and it comes with both a DVI and D-Sub cable. It also has 1:1 pixel mapping so it can be configured to stretch for example 1024x768 to 1680x1050 or you can have it show the 1024x768 with a black border. It supposedly can also do HDCP but I've no idea if that's true although I've no reason to doubt it I just haven't got anything that can drive a HDCP monitor.

Nearly forgot to add neither monitor has any dead pixels.

Not sure what the warranty will be from where you are buying one but I got them from PC World and I believe they're only covered for 1 year.

For comparison I "upgraded" from a Dell 21" P1130 CRT and a Mitsubishi top of the range CRT (forgot it's model number) but I also had a 17" 16ms TFT and for desktop use the widescreen TFT is so much better because of the extra desktop space and even for gaming it's perfectly fine with very little ghosting if at all (had it a while so I don't notice it if it's there) although if I was playing FPS games competitively again I'd probably want my CRT back.

Overall I would say I am very happy with the w20.

Cheers str, had decided to take the gamble this morning and already ordered one. I'm a lot more confident about my purchase now, cheers!

I ordered from the HP home website, which is the same 1yr warranty. At £146 though, I can live with that.

    Thanks again

Well it arrived this morning and first impressions are excellent. My main experience so far with LCD has been my 4 year old Dell 14" laptop, this is far superior

Paid over £200 for my 19" Iiyama CRT in 2001, I remember a 15" LCD was about twice that back then

If anyone is interested i could put up a few pics later and mini review once i've spent some more time with it?
