    GeForce 8600 Availabilty?

    Hey

I'v just built myself a really nice SFF Shuttle PC, and due to its size I cant fit any kind of dual slot card into it.

I really want to get a dx10 card so I'll be using the integrated graphics until I can buy one.

Does anyone know the release dates of the GeForce 8600 Cards?

Any ideas on how long i'm going to be waiting before I can get one off the nice people at scan?

    Thanks
    Tim

If you're desperate, they'll be out in about two weeks, though personally I'd wait for a refresh line up. Nothing is using dx10 yet though.

No idea on the scan thing - depends on their suppliers/purchasing. Sometimes they get things in quickly, sometimes it takes a while.

not sure there will be a refresh for the 8600's tbh. will probably end up like the 66's an 76's where they come out later than the highend parts and run to the end of the series.

i would wait to see what the ATI eqiv is like before buying tho as there are concerns that the 86's wont be as hot as the previous two series were. we shall see tho

Thanks for the info, I'm in no rush to buy a graphics card so I may wait like you say.

I may just get a cheap dx9 card for now and then get a decent dx10 card when then become more established.

that wouldnt be a bad idea,

    something cheap like
    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/118475/rb/26671926538

    or something fast like
    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119682

are both very nicely priced now and depending on your needs would do you

Well I was more meaning the problems rumoured with 2d clock speads - there could be a revision update worth waiting for.

I've heard this too, a bit of competition for when the new ati cards come out.

Thanks for the links MadduckUK, but if I bought this card wouldn't I get better bang for the buck? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=481911

Seems like a very fast card for not too many notes.

The other thing I have to consider is the limited space SFF pc's bring - I can only fit a single slot card into my machine.

That's a good price, and it gets a good review from Hexus, http://www.hexus.net/content/item.ph...earch=x1950PRO.

Only beware, X1950 is quite a long card, make sure it fits.

Any ideas on where the 8600s fit in the GPU order and also rough guide to pricing?
EDIT: Just found some info on other site - looks very good! Might be around £140-£150 for the ultra series. Looks like it'll be an even cheaper way to get onto the DX10 bandwagon.

I also reckon DX9 cards will fall a further 10-20%, maybe more

I'd love to get a X19XX series but I find myself almost Succumbing to the 8800GTS. Decisions decisions....
