I'd say the latter would be the better option; the 6600's a bit long in the tooth now, and I think you'd just be wasting money buying another. You might want to wait a bit until the mid-range Nvidia 8-series cards are commonly available. Or save your pennies and get one of the 320MB 8800GTS's.
For the ultimate boost you'd be better of selling the 6600 and buying a more powerful card.
For what it's worth, the nvidia 8600 midrange DX10 series is coming out in about 10 days time, designed to replace the 7600 series.
Info on specs and pricing here.
Some guy in Australia supposedly already has one.
Perhaps the 8600GT at (probably cos of Britain) around £100 might be a worthy contender to ATI's x1950pro.
If you have an extremely low budget then picking up another one on ebay real cheap might be worth along shot.
Although a newer beefy card is a better idea.
wow! a new card recommended all round. Puts a downer on the idea of SLi - buy one and in a years time, buy another one :)
if you are selling the xfx i'll have it for my brothers machine :p
I disagree; but then the 6600GT isn't a year old, more like two and a half years. Personally, I got a 7800GT (on these very forums) about a year after I got my first, and it works pretty well.
StaffsKieran on here has Dual 7800GT's with a very similar rig to mine otherwise and they perform really well.
had a 6800gt in agp for the past 3 and a half years, just upgraded to a 640mb 8800gts and the performance in all of my games has pretty much trippled. i would def say upgrade to a newer card.
I would be concerned as not all games support SLI and even with another one in SLI, a cheap card such as a x1950pro will wash 2x6660GT'S all over the floor + you already have interest in your 6600GT

Definitely agree....
Unless you have two TOP OF THE RANGE cards straight away then whats the point.
Example:
2 x 7900GS's = About £250
1 x 8800GTS = £200-£225
8800GTS will be faster than 2 x 7900GS's so why bother.
