well.. only one card there thats getting any attention from me i think, just need some 8600GTS benchies now to see wether its going to be a worthy upgrade to a 7900GT

Waiting for Apple to starting shipping Macs with 8 series cards in, I want to throw a cheap one in my second PC but I dual-boot OSX on it and there aren't any drivers yet. Hopefully, these new offerings will tempt them

Hmpf. I think I'll hang onto the x1950xt then. Doesn't sound like these parts will be any faster for dx9.

From what I've read about it the 8600gts would be a sideways upgrade from a 7900gt. Similar performance but you get DX10.

There's a 8600GTS performance preview here, and I'm not impressed at all, the card is most of the times behind the 1950PRO and somewhere between 7900GS and 7900GT. Maybe the drivers will solve some issues, but ATM the performance seems quite poor.

from the first benchmarks i looked at on that link it was scoring around 25 - 30% lower than the 8800gts.. did you expect it to be better than the 8800's? .. It's a midrange card which is supposed to deliver midrange performance..which it does.

agreed. Look at the price range they are coming out at. An 8600gts is going to be released at around 7900gt money. When the 7900gt was released im sure that was in the 8800 price range.

My prediction is that although the overall performance wont be as good as some of the really higher end cards (xtx's and 7950s) due to the stream proccessing technology, it may be more constant ie. will be less likely to have spikes in fps when a lot of stuff is going on

yeap, its weird how they released the top card of the 8xxx and now they're moving down.

yea its probably the 8900GTX 8950GX2 or something like those.

According to Guru3D and some hacked drivers, theres going to be a 8800Ultra before the 8900 series cards.
