    Quiet graphics card recomendation

Can anyone recommend a decent graphics card for a new PC that I'm going to be building...

I can spend up to £150, but card needs to be quiet / silent...

    Cheers

    I'd agree.
Hexus has just reviewed a 7950GT that seems to fit your bill exactly, but even Tarinder's parting remarks are
"Most users, however, would be better advised looking at the new batch of midrange SKUs that are to be launched by NVIDIA and ATI imminently. "

Edit: And bit-tech also reviewed nVidia's competitor, right here

Hard to answer without knowing what you intend to use it for, gaming (what resolution), HTPC?

Regardless I would hold off till nVidia release the 8600 cards, not to buy one, but because the 7600 and 7900/7950 cards should come down in price, as should the X1650 and X1950 cards from ATI.

If you do want a dx10 then wait while the mid range market settles down, there should be a clear price/performance winner for your budget. Look at the 8800 series, the 320MB GTS didn't come out for months after the GTX and is easily the best value card in the range. A similar situation will no doubt follow with the 8600 and 8500 cards (not to mention ATI getting in on the dx10 act), patience is a virtue.

If you want a card now, given your need for quiet and assuming your not gaming at 1920x1200, take a look at the XFX Fatal1ty 7600GT. Fastest 7600 on the market, passive (completely silent) cooling and only £87 at Scan. Hopefully less this time next week

Well now that the first batch of reviews of the 8600 range is out, it seems that the winner is....
    The 7900 series! LOL.
Of course that would change if you knew (for some, very specific reason) that you need DirectX 10 capabilities, but for modern, current stuff check out Hexus' own review:
    http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=8409&page=9

I would therefore advocate getting either a 7900GS (passive) or the 7950 as linked to above.

    The MSI

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=577074

    or the Gigabyte

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=575255

8600GT good if DX10 support is required

    Regards

I'd take the Gigabyte, Silent-pipes are known to be very effective.

thought that underscored very was a link to some proof
i'd say the gigabyte too, its heatsink has more surface area to dissipate heat.
