Been considering a 20" widescreen LCD, but now thinking whether a larger monitor and therefore dot pitch might be more appropriate. I run my 17" CRT @ 1024x768 - anything higher is bad for my eyes.
Thoughts?
Thanks

20" widescreen will be the same res as a 22" wide, so everything will be that little bit bigger. Might be better on your eyes.
Read this at AnandTech: 'In fact, we are unable to locate any 22" LCDs that don't use a TN panel at this time'.
Assuming this is true, it's a choice between a bigger screen and a better quality one. ):
Anyone know when other types of panel will be in 22"?
but you can buy a higher resolution monitor and then just turn down the res until it is comfortable for your eyes
Are modern LCDs really that good with non-native resolutions?
well there obviously not as good as they would be at native but I still think they look pretty good you could always get a tv as they normally only support resolutions upto 1024x 768 (that is the one of the reasons why people do not use them as computer monitors)
Resolution scales with size, a high resolution larger panel will give the same readability as a smaller screen with a lower resolution.
Not true when it's a 20" with the same res as a 22".
If size matters ;-) beware of same resolution at different sizes. I have 19" and 17" side by side and still regret not getting another 19".
The difference in pixel size gives the same image but smaller and my eyesight...
