I'm building a computer for my sister and it should be as close to £400 as possible, with a 19" widescreen monitor.

The catch is I want it to be able to run vista home premium comfortably.

My options seem to be a 7300GT or 7600GS, how do they rate?

(rest of system approx: celeron 3.06ghz, geil value 1gb pc3200, 400GB seatgate barracuda sata2

If she's not going to be gaming or anything, I've got a 7100GS running Vista comfortably. It's awful in Media Centre in Vista (nV drivers are still very immature for Vista), but for everything else I'm yet to see any issues. Can get a low-profile bracket separately too, if that's any use.

The only downside is, and this depends on how much RAM you've got, it uses TurboCache (128mb onboard, then 512mb from your system if necessary).

What about the 8500GT, has DX10 and is cheap too.

It would be the most expensive thing on there by the sounds of it.

Why build a pc with such a low spec. Dells come with 19" monitors for £400

    http://configure.euro.dell.com/dells...sftdppdesktop1

you can configure this with a dual core and ati x1300 for £400 - £415
