Now all we need is a nuclear powerstation to run it, it's like having 4 preslers onboard, and you could fit 4 of them too.

Apparently they're going to reduce the 80nm tech to 65nm or something (or so I read) the first couple of batches will be 80nm though

Oh goodie, that means we'll only need a coal power station instead.

    hehehe

remember people saying you'd need a nuclear power plant for the 8800GTX though ?

but hey you probably will for this card ;(

You do realise that's the OEM version, right? The standard retail one is smaller than the 8800GTX.

I'm bored seeing these results now. Nothing is making any sense what-so-ever. Bring on the release.

According to whom?.. The card isn't on the market, AMD still hasn't made an official press release.

OEM implies a reference design, if so, then the retails wont be much shorter. If you mean a prototype, then maybe the retail will be shorter.

I love all this rumour and conjecture fanboys make, especially comparing an unreleased product with a product that's been on the market for nearly 5 months, apples and oranges anyone? Assuming these benchies are real at all and aren't just figments of people's imaginations. Bearing in mind, they were posted by a Blogger with a handle of RadeonX. Until I see a hexus review or some other trustworthy source this will all be bollocks to me, and even if ATi release this as a 7 inch long package for £30 I still wouldn't buy it because it would be a £30 paperweight ~85% of the time (approximate period of time I'm booted into Linux).

This one does look like it's turning out to be a disappointment, only a better price or heat level can really save this range of cards from being a failure, who knows, it might even be the final straw for AMD.

Still, given the length of time it's taken for me to get my last mistake of a PC purchase sorted, I might finally get a choice between the two

Just in order of what Google returned results. I doubt you'll find ATi saying much - under the NDA it'll take effort enough to get them to confirm R600 exists, even now

I'm no fanboy. I just buy what's best when I need or choose to upgrade. I just hope ATi release something competetive in all areas against nV, as if you have 1 manufacturer the only winner is that manufacturer. nV's card may have been around for a while, but for a lot of that time it's been barely usable in many systems, and frankly, I think we're all comparing the X2900XTX to the new Ultra, not what already exists.

I agree entirely with most of your final paragraph though. Couldn't give a stuff about Linux though, been there, done that, come back home.

I'm not saying you're a fanboy, I mean all this R600 hype in general is silly.

I like my stable and secure OS though. For me, Windows is just for hassle free gaming. So I'll be staying 'home'

I too have had enough of this hype and anti-hype if you could call it that bring on the release and then we will see some reviews that are respectable and trustworthy, none of the results so far I can believe to be bad I mean the 8800 was disappointing when it came out especially with drivers.

Yeah if the R600 cards actually work they'll be 1 up on nVidia. "Vista ready" on the box, lol!
