Have nVidia abandoned XP / pre 8000 series users?

Perhaps I am being paranoid, bit nVidia haven't released a driver update for "old" tech cards (7000 series & lower) on Windows XP since November last year. Meanwhile, Vista & the latest 8000 series cards seem to be getting regular driver updates.

What do other folks reckon - is this a policy of non-support or just co-incidence?

well im going to contact POV direct to see if they fancy offering me an upgrade deal to get round this problem, no point going back to scan as the hardware is fine, just the fact i need working drivers, i do know they can sort this as i can install the beta 165.01 and not have the issues with the monitor turning off until windows has booted, i just cant live with the in game lock ups that come with the betas.

pull your fingers out nvidia before someone starts class action against you !

In game lockups in SLi are usually caused by Nvidia's poor game profile, GoNz0. I once had Farcry crashing on my 6600GT SLi system and I had to import old profile by nhancer to solve that.

thanks bud but i have tried all the options, when i tried 165.01 again last night i wiped the profile and made a new one pointing to the exe, 2142 only uses AFR1.

165.01 were some dodgy beta that came from nowere with no changlog, but in fact its the only driver from 93.71 or 93.81 that actually boots in SLI on my rig without crapping out.

have also been playing with nhancer a lot to try various methods.

Maybe sell your 7900GTXs while they are hot and get single 8800GTX instead? But then probably you will still experience driver problem though

I think most of the vista upgrades are to get teh odl cards working on vista. But I've never really updated my drivers until now and I am happy they've changed. Previously I have been stuck on the drivers that came out a few months after the release of my card, a 6600GT, Any drivers from like 64.xx+ would really play havok with my system, videos wouldn't load, game performance dropepd significantly, but these 100 drivers sorted that so I'm fair happy with them.
