    Another "Which Monitor" Thread =)

OK ive read through the various post in this section and nothing really seems to answer all my questions so i thought id make my own thread =).

Im looking to get a 20 - 22inch monitor with DVI ( ive heard it makes a big difference ) and if possible S-video in as id like to use the monitor with a freeview box of some sort so i can watch TV without the use of my PC =).

Im also semi sure that there is a conversion box which allows an S-video too DVI connection but im not really where to look for that. This would obviously free up which monitors i could choose from as the S-video connection issue would be irrelevant.

Any Help you guys could give would be much appreciated,

    Thanks in advance,

    Sean.

Some of the dell monitors do S-video, for eg this UltraSharp™ 2007WFP 20.1" Widescreen - http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna...dhs1&sku=59233 - at £319.60 (incl. VAT, shipping).

    Hope this helps.

go for the 2007wfp..i use a freeview box through mine. It's not quite as nice as a tv but its pretty nice all the same plus its a cracking monitor with picture in picture as well as the slightly less useful picture by picture.

I've taken delivery of a Samsung 225BW (22" monitor) this morning from ebuyer. Not opened yet as I'm at work.

Does anybody know if the CiBox has 3 years warranty? I would be reluctant to buy it if it only had 1 year.

Not considering at the moment as I haven't even opened the Samsung box.

I would consider the Daewoo from Scan at £179 more than the CiBox.

Main use for the monitor is surfing, as I won't be stressing it I wanted to get a cheap decent screen that would fit in the monitor section of my desk.

i have pretty much the same criteria. although i always tend to overspecify

i have been looking at 20 inch monitors the samsung 205bw looks right to me at present, although it is hard to ignore all the issues with these displays as well as the temptation of a 22 inch screen which may be a tad too big for the space I have...

My 225BW buzzes , not as much as the 205BW I picked up from PC World though.

I think most if not all 205BW/225BW must suffer from this and I can hear it because I may have sensitive hearing. One other thing which could make the sound stand out is the computer is very quiet.

I have a space issue as well (corner desk with shelves either side and above and below the monitor section), however, the Samsung just about fits but I will need to modify the desk IMO.

I just reread the linked thread and looked at the pictures linked to and the hp screen looks mighty impressive!

some more pics (not the best comparison pics as the monitors look to need some calibration) here comparing the samsung 226bw

Have you read the entire thread? Does it list the above in the thread or have you seen it elsewhere?
