Deciding between 2 monitors - need your help!

Right, I am desparate for a new monitor and I almost got one this week but thanks to you guys advice a turned it down, a smart move i feel!

Now I just got off the phone with Dell sales who said they'd sell me a 2007wfp for £235, which I think is a good price. I might try and haggle some more off but we'll see

At the same time, I could get a Samsung 226BW, which is 22" to the dell's 20, and looks a bit better, and has a great panel. This one costs £240.

Which one would you guys go for if it were you? I guess they both have ups and downs, which i have considered, but how about how they actually feel/seem to you?

Thanks for your help, hopefully i'll get some quick replies!

cripes! that is a good deal from dell - i would be looking at that one for me as the height adjustment would swing it

there is a comparison of the 2007wfp at

    http://www.pureoverclock.com/article637.html

    with the 20 inch sammy

many people will say go for the largest you can, so that would be an 's' panel 226bw from play.com ???

Haha yeah but don't tell anyone, I don't want them to all sell out before I get there! I don't know if height adjustment is that big a deal for me, just quality and size I guess... what do you think about the size difference? If the samsung was height adjustable, would you go for that?

That dell is bloody expensive without discounts isnt it?!

ahh you've just confused me more! I was leaning towards the Dell at that price... taken objectively, which do you think is the actual "better monitor"?

I've just emailed dell back asking for a bit more off - ha! I'm a cheeky bugger.

So would any of you would go for size over connectivity? Can the dell display a 360 at high def?

Which has the better panel, the Samsung or the 2007WFP? I'd love a proper comparison of the two but i guess that's pretty hard to find...

ahh this is getting so frustrating. Two monitors at the same price. One with a better panel (the Dell), one with a larger screen size(the Samsung). C'mon people, someone tell me what you'd get!

I think the questions I'm asking myself are:

Does it really matter about the quality of the screen i.e. is there that much of a difference (TN vs S-IPS)?

How does 1680x1050 look on 20" vs. 22"?

I watch a lot of videos: 20" or 22" better?

Would the extra connections on the Dell come in handy (it's not like i'm ever going to have either in the living room now is it?!)?

I'm sorry for all these questions, I just feel that I really should make the right choice before shelling out £250 that really should be spent on more important things

If anyone could give those questions a shot I'd be more than grateful. It's a shame not to be able to see the two monitors side by side, I'm sure that'd make the decision far easier!

    Thanks guys!

i'd probably like the 22" for watching movies but 20 is still good.

No the 2007wfp wont do HD.

For reading and typing up etc.. the 22" will be easier on your eyes but perhaps not as a sharp as the dell.

For what you want it for I would have the Samsung assuming what you buy is the same as what has been reviewed.

well not particularly, i'd like to get one mostly because i'm fed up of looking at a screen that's 768 pixels tall. I have to scroll through all webpages, pictures don't fit, word documents are annoying....

I do have a monitor that works, and the picture it makes it lovely, I'm just tired of it being small. 15 inch is very small though!

The Samsung is definately height adjustable. Ive got the 225BW and thats why I bought it. Its HDCP too if that floats your boat.

If I were you I'd go for the 226BW without a doubt. Anextra 2" for a similar price. You wont notice any difference in sharpness in games, desktop or watching films. The only reason to get the Dell is more input options, but I didnt need 'em

even though it's a TN panel vs. S-IPS of the Dell?
