I'm going to buy a DVI --> HDMI cable on payday to connect my PC to my TV.
What I want to know is will any program (eg. Ultramon) allow me to run 1080i on my TV, yet also run 1280 x 1024 on my TFT?
I wont be running dual monitors as such, I'll want the same full image on each screen.

any new ATI or nvidia card will have no problems doing that.
Is the 6800GT HDCP compatible though? I think the card needs to be HDCP for the TV to be able to recieve a signal through the HDMI port.
If you go to the Nvidia control panel you can choose HD resolutions independently for monitors, you can with the 8800GTS at least. You might stuggle putting the same image on different screens at different ratios, one of the screens will look distorted.
If you are cloning the display (same image on both screens) then you have to have the same resolution. This will either mean distortion through scaling or one of the screens will pan due to the different aspect ratios.
You might be able to get a compromise if you output to 1080 on both and set the tft to fixed aspect ratio scaling, if you're lucky you'll get the image slightly shrunk with black lines top and bottom. Or maybe the TV has an option not to stretch the input and use the tft's resloution.
You shouldn't need HDCP unless you're playing blueray/hd-dvd though.

I think I'll see if I like/can use my TV as a monitor, then if so, put my TFT into storage.
I don't know about all TVs, but the HDMI input isn't the greatest port for connecting to a PC
The VGA port (D-Sub) gives a 1:1 pixel-mapped picture from your PC ie. 1366x768 - (assuming you have a 720p HDTV) and looks perfect on the Samsung TVs...
Sadly my TV doesn't have a VGA port, I thought it did but I thought wrong.
