you can update the BIOS to the latest version but thats about it....

my TI4200 used to clock to ti4800 speeds but about 4 weeks ago it died on me so I wouldnt reccomend clocking it that high for normal use (mine was sat doing nothing whilst I was at work, came back and it was dead)

all you can do is o/c it. flahsing is a bit pointless unless 4200's are locked? - make sure if you do that you get a bios for the same type of memory or your card might get b0rked.
isnt ti4800 just a ti4200 with 8x agp? nvidia make confusing/annoying names for there stuff.... i assume you meant ti4400 or ti4600 speeds?

gfx cards shouldnt die if they have good enuf cooling (less than 45c) and not pushed too far (volt mods - less than 0.35v more than stock).

i haven't volt modded it and if i remember correctly a Ti4600 is 300/600 @ default so i suppose its not too bad of a gain.
i start to get artifacts if i push it to 300/600, its only got its standard cooling on it.

as to nvidia calling same cards different names just because of their agp multiplier i think its just another scam to get more money out of people, like most big business.
