Oh, I'm also consider the Samsung 226BW. Not sure which is better?
Start looking and searching weljohn, there's LOADS of threads on this but in a nutshell - 226BW is heralded as one of the best 22" monitors you can sometimes get - "sometimes" because Samsung actually make it with three different types of LCD panels (maybe 4). Best is apparently an S panel, A next best and can be calibrated to be as good as an S, and the third and worst is a C panel. So there's something called a "panel lottery", i.e. the quality of the 226BW you buy will vary and you won't know what you're getting until you unpack and use it. Which sucks.
The LG has lots of favourable user reviews but it's a 6 bit TN panel meaning it can only show 262,144 colours, not the 16.7m colours that PCs use, and suffers from some other problems to do with TN panels. However, this is apparently true for all 22" monitors right now (which has completely put me off 22" screens) so if you can live with that, the LG L226WTQ seems to be good. Over in the US there's been lots of problems with ghosting on the WTQ models, but less so over here in the UK.
Before I decided against buying any 22" screen, I was seriously considering the LG and decided, because I didn't know what I'd get and thought Samsung were playing really unfair, that I wouldn't get the Samsung.

If you get an A panel Samsung 226BW it'll be one of the best 22" TN displays you can get your hands on - however it's a complete gamble and I for one wasn't willing to risk it.
The LG L226WTQ was a bit of a mess up to March 2007 until the 'overdrive' feature (the technology LG use to get a 2ms response time) was improved greatly. This update removed all of the problems you'll read people complaining about i.e. ghosting, backlight bleeding etc. meaning the end result is one hell of an awesome display. :D
