tbh m8 when it comes to tft's most people havent had many to compare, so if they bought a certain model they will pimp that one obviously. toms hardware has the best comparison at the moment.

personnally i own x3 hercules 920 dvi. and whilst they are very good i have only been in contact with 2 other makes. i am told hercules have a 3 dead pixel policy which is the best so far.

I went into PCworld the other day for a munch around and looked at all there tft's and i tell u what theres a huge difference between them.......take your time

I've got 2 1760NX running a dual-display-wide-desktop and I'll pimp them too DVD playback could be a little better IMHO can't beat plugging a laptop into the telly

Having said that the most recent Custom PC mag did a group test and rated the Iiyama ProLite E431S highest of them all. The website obviously lags a bit (wouldn't be any point in printing the mag othewise ) but might be there once the next months comes out in a fortnight or so I think.

Are there any places which are cheap AND will do a pixel check on TFTs? Im thinking of getting one, but I dont want to end up with annoying dead pixels!!

Best LCD out atm is the Hyundai Q17, it IS the LCD of choice its almost next generation compared to the LG and NEC monitors, I had a play with one last night and it is Stunning, beats everything i've seen and played with by miles.

If you want the best the q17 is the only one to go for.

I'm always a bit sceptical on tom's hardware reviews, but they seemed to have got this one spot on. Hope you find it a reasonable price, I have to say I am sorely tempted to get one myself on last nights performance.

I've got a Samsung 172b and its very good, but its almost a year old now so hardly the latest tech. My sister bought a 15" Sony which is nice also, but all the ones John Lewis have dead pixels, as does my Friend's Illyama. The Hyundai Q17 like TiG said does seem to be the new Chicken of Choice.

Im thinking of buying a 17 TFT myself, and so far I have 3 on my list of possibilities.

    LG Flatron L1710B

    Hercules ProphetView 920 Pro DVI

    Hyundai ImageQuest Q17

If I was going to buy one right now, it would be the LG Flatron L1710B, gets great reviews everytime.

As far as I know it is the Silver version but i think thats the only colour it comes in.

£339 is the cheapest I can find it too, only found 4 places it that stock it though. And I certainly wouldn't be buying it from one of those.
