    Arrow 3dmark score gone down?

ok, i used to have a kt333 mobo, instead of this new asus nf2 deluxe v2.0 whatever motherboard.. after installing all the software/drivers etc, i thought i would see how much faster this motherboard is than the old one...

only differences between the old and new system are:
    - new one running at 2.2Ghz (11x200) as the vCore seems to overvolt, and 2.3 isnt stable
    - dual channel memory (512mb at 200mhz) rather than just 2 sticks at 200mhz
    - 52.19 (or something drivers) which came with the nvidia driver thing, rather than the 41.09 ones..

yet before i got 13500 3dmarks, and now i'm getting 12600... the geforce is clocked the same - 310/600, so anyone got any idea why its gone down?

    mark

edit: all programs in the background were closed btw, and i tried setting the agp bus to 80mhz (as it was ont he kt333 board due to lack of dividers) but made no difference..

aa / af on? Same settings you used with your old drivers?

Have you installed the motherboard drivers? Also did you format when you changed the mobo?

aa/af off, everything set to best performance, same settings as old drivers except i was using 41.xx before now i'm using 52.xx, yeh installed all motherboard drivers etc. and yeh i formatted (went from 120gb (2x60gb) raid) to a single 60gb as one of the 60gb drives has knackered so it'll be RMA-ed to maxtor soon...

Well i have the newest drivers, and my score is carp compared to my old. top at 121** (306/620) where as i managed 132** at a lower clock (gfx), with my other gf4. Only change was the OS win2k -> win2k server.

    Try the old drivers again

cheers for that blockers, i shall see if i can uninstall and install some older drivers again.. any decent suggestions? 41.09 was what i was using tho i think someone said something about the 44.xx drivers being the best for the geforce4 series?

heat issues perhaps? My score deterioated slightly before when using the cat 3.9s as they made the card incredibly hot. Do the benchie once on a cold boot, then again on another cold boot.

try and get the most fsb possible, if u can drop the multi to 10 and get 210fsb u will get a better score with the 100mhz less cause 3d mark 2k1 prefers fsb. the drivers also look suspect.

    so cheers guys

    couple of things....

SPEED at all that......not in 3dmark...its GOOD to use to compare but the drivers MIGHT be loads more stable, etc.

    and

Do you have broadband..and if so.....Firewall?
Unplug the broadbean phat pipe AND switch off Firewall...give it 3 minutes to clear out totallyt (Zone Alarm takes that long) THEN try

broadband goes into another pc, then intoa switch, then into mine, so that should be ok (i think??)...

i realise 3dmark scores etc are different from real world tests, but i'm sure the 4x.xx series of drivers is much better than the 5x.xx ones for geforce4 cards, and i just wanted to make sure that my system was at least the same speed it was before i 'upgraded' the mobo (upgraded in quotes cos the score went down lol )... gonna leave it looping some while i go to work today, so that i know my ram is stable at 200 dual channell.. really need to get some new stuff so i can get past the 200mhz stage without having to put anymore than 2.7v through the ram

Not sure if this is related as being honest i'm not into synthetic benchmarks that much (if what I want to play runs smooth at high res with an the sparkly bit's turned on then i'm happy). 3D Mark made some changes not so long back - according to them - to even the playing field in comparing graphic cards. This had a detramental effect on the latest range of Nvidia cards, I confess i didn't pay enough attention to notice if it was only the latest version the altered or they did a patch for 01 as well. Also Nvidia have taken a fair bit of a kicking over the smart shader stuff they were using as it downsampled iirc in certain driver set's and again Futuremark was not impressed (neither were Valve). I'd use detonator destroyer and go back to the same driver set you had before so you are as much as possible comparing apples with apples.
