How to get colours etc correct on monitor / video cards

    Chaps,

Am utterly useless at this side of things, but have a couple of new widescreen TFTs.

Colour balance, contrast, brightness and gamma were way out.

I've messed about with them and improved things a bit, but the main result has been convincing me how cr4p I am at this.

Does anybody know a good tool that does this for you (card and screen)?

    Cheers,

    Tom.

If you belong to any DVD rental services like Lovefilm, rent "Digital Video Essentials". It's a bit twee in places but the majority of it is instructions and testcard-like patterns to calibrate any display. I used it with my projector, and intend to use it when I get a working TFT monitor.

However, note this works for video and that's a different load of "overlay" settings to desktop/gaming/etc.

    Still useful though!
